Janine Kumpf’s second big stage

The 62-year-old German-Swiss Janine Kumpf has finished the second major stage of her trip to Africa.

Janine Kumpf traveled with one Yamaha DT 125 in 10 weeks over 7,500 kilometers from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, Mali, the Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra Lone, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau to Senegal and Dakar.

MOTORRAD travel general Markus Biebricher is currently working through her 25,000-character manuscript, which is to appear as a report in MOTORRAD 12/2017. Fascinated and at the same time perplexed, he looks up from his computer: “It’s unbelievable what Janine experienced on her trip! And what great photos she brought with her! How am I supposed to put all of this into just eight pages in the booklet, please? You can’t just cut anything out of the story, then something important is guaranteed to be missing.”

Markus will have somehow solved this problem by the time we go to press – again. In any case, we are excited and look forward to the finished report; here we allow ourselves a little preview.

Janine Kumpf is almost there: the border with Senegal has been reached.

Janine Kumpf was born in Neuchâtel / CH in 1954 and grew up on Lake Constance. She worked among other things. as a ski instructor in Flims / Laax, then for decades as an independent financial expert in Germany.

She discovered her love for travel when she was 9 years old when she received her first atlas. The passion to discover new and foreign things and the curiosity about what is hidden behind the next mountain have remained with her to this day.

She speaks German, English and French as well “to survive” Italian, Spanish and Russian.
