Powered by an in-line twin (derived from the 500 GPZ), the ER-5 has a mechanics that is significantly more torque supplied in mid-revs than its mini-sport-GT cousin. With this utility, Kawasaki faces head-on the stars of the sector that are the Honda CB 500 and the Suzuki 500 GSE.. Offered at a great price (only the GSE is cheaper), the little needy girl is very simple in style, her vocation being to ride for a long time and surely, not to impress the gallery. Its handling (facilitated by the low saddle) is easy, which is very appreciable in town, but the turning radius is disappointing. Where the machine amazes is by its ability to maintain a fairly sporty pace – a Kawa remains a Kawa -. Although the engine is stingy with sensations, it is efficient, as are the braking and the chassis. Agile and safe, the ER-5 has not forgotten to be comfortable. The shock absorbers and the saddle are of much better quality than the equipment of its competitors. A good little machine, showing economy, efficiency and comfort, and available in 34 hp. In the category, she plays tight with the 500 GSE to square the circle.
