Ouhla! Be careful, step aside: Kawasaki is once again entering the grand touring sector, this time with a custom pad fitted in every way. Watch out, it’s not kidding.
After inaugurating a super high-speed liner that is the GTR 1400, the manufacturer opens the doors of the crucifying GT with this new VN 1700 Voyager. A very large custom belonging to the new family of sumo from Kawa: the Classic, the Tourer, and the Voyager presented here.
Kawa has long known custom combined with travel fashion. Previously, the catalog offering was first equipped with the 1500 Tourer, then an increase in displacement brought the 1600 Tourer. Today, the 1700 Tourer takes up the torch; but the offer of the Japanese giant goes even further: because in addition to a further increase in twin cubic capacity, the 1700 Voyager is very well equipped to face many highways and other highways. A huge long-stroke mill with plenty of torque, two side cases, a big top case with a large passenger backrest, 2 glove boxes to fit in all the little mess (you know, the lighter, the toll ticket, change, keys, chewings-gums,….), and protection like that provided by a large windshield, a large fork crown and side leg guards. 3 front optics should guarantee very consistent lighting. In short, we are right in the presence of the Japanese version of a…. Electra-Glide. Between the two, there is little more than the manufacturer’s logo and the presence of a water heater to differentiate them. Okay, okay, let’s get over the controversy.
Kawa isn’t just launching a new super cruiser. He takes the opportunity to put some appreciable compounds on a daily basis. The Voyager features cruise control, a 6-speed gearbox (the last of which is overdrive to lower the engine speed at good speed), the new K-ACT braking system (Kawasaki Advanced Coactive-braking Technology) which improves the control that the pilot has braking thanks to an increase in the overall power of the braking unit, and a new electronic control system for managing the opening of the butterflies, bringing more smoothness and progressiveness to the engine response.
What about this engine? Nothing less than a huge 1700 cc twin with overflowing torque of almost 14 mkg, available from 2750 rpm. A real iron fist that will have no trouble lifting this imposing cruiser.
