Kawasaki Z 400 at EICMA
New entry-level naked bike
Kawasaki provides the Ninja 400 with a naked bike. The Kawasaki Z 400 was presented at EICMA 2018 in Milan.
Kawasaki is expanding its Z model family and will be presenting the new Z 400 at EICMA in Milan, following the Z 300 that has already been discontinued. The technology shares the new one Kawasaki Z 400 with the sister model Ninja 400.
45 hp twin from the Ninja 400
Kawasaki
The technology takes over the Z400 from the Ninja 400.
This means that the new Kawasaki Z 400 also relies on a 399 cm³ in-line two-cylinder, which generates 45 hp and a maximum torque of 38 Nm. But the tubular frame, the wheels, the exhaust system, the tank and the entire rear are taken over from the fully clad sports version. This means that the Z 400 also relies on 17-inch cast rims with 110/70 tires at the front and 150/60 tires at the rear.
At the rear, a central spring strut with 130 mm of travel springs and dampens. The 41 mm telescopic fork offers 120 mm of travel. Braking power supplies a 310 disc on the front wheel. ABS is of course on board. In front of the tubular handlebars, the Greens installed an LED headlight together with a small cockpit fairing. The cockpit is based on a revolving rev counter combined with an LCD multifunction display.
Kawasaki Z 400 in three color combinations
According to preliminary information, the seat height is 785 mm and thus on par with the Ninja 400. A 30 mm higher seat cushion is optionally available. In terms of weight, too, there is almost a tie at 167 to 168 kilograms. The new Kawasaki Z 400 will be available in the color combinations Candy Lime Green / Metallic Spark Black, Pearl Stardust White / Metallic Spark Black and Candy Cardinal Red / Metallic Flat Spark Blac. Kawasaki has not yet announced the market launch or price. The Ninja 400 is currently available from around 6,000 euros. The Z 400 should be a little below that.
