KTM 1050 Adventure in the driving report
Practice humility
The KTM 1050 Adventure rounds off the Adventure range at the bottom. With 95 PS it is suitable as a basis for a 48 PS variant throughout Europe. Our first driving impressions:
The Adventure series will be expanded downwards by the fourth model, the new one KTM 1050 Adventure. An economy model in many ways: reduced displacement, less power, reduced equipment, lower price. The simpler variant certainly posed a difficult task not only for marketing strategists but also for technicians. The specification: 95 hp so that it can be used as the basis for a 48 hp variant. For this purpose, the bore and stroke were reduced, and channels and valve timing were adjusted. But a sports engine cannot be castrated so severely using the hardware alone, so the electronics have to intervene. At first glance, this leads to a somewhat strange performance curve. Up to 6000 revs the 1050 comes very close to the 1190 despite the displacement handicap. Then the power is artificially frozen over a wide range just below the required 95 hp. Without the electronic stranglehold, the smaller V2 would still have around 115 hp.
