KTM 640 LC4 Supermoto model 2005
Active breathing
Cleared airways and two mufflers are supposed to spice up the KTM 640 Supermoto.
D.as the LC4 engine is getting on in years is nothing new. The then ultra-modern four-valve engine made its debut at the end of 1986, almost twenty years ago. But due to a lack of equal competition, it can still assert itself in the segment of sporty supermoto singles. Especially since the Austrians with the oldie
continuous model maintenance with beautiful regularity.
This also applies to the coming model year. The supermotos of the 2005 version are easy to identify on the new rear end with the impressive double exhaust, so far the hallmark of the Kunzel factory racers & Co. All three models, the 640 Supermoto and the two sport versions 625 and 660 SMC, which can only be approved in a restricted manner. The designers put a sleek, one-piece cladding in the style of the EXC models over the two silencers
there is a matching taillight. A new lamp mask was drawn for the front,
in which a more powerful headlight is located. Practical: the seat bench can be unlocked with a lever so that tools, air filter and storage compartment are easily accessible.
The rear conversion is not limited to the exterior, there are also functional reasons behind it. A larger air filter box is hidden under the new plastic cover because it no longer has to hold the battery. The power storage is now across behind the airbox. A flame retardant screen prevents the air filter from igniting if the motor kicks back. In the case of the 640, the gain in space in the intake area means more free breathing and, in conjunction with the new camshafts and a modified ignition management, more power in all
Areas of real 55 HP at the top are mentioned. In addition,
Activate a special ignition map for low-octane fuel if necessary. The fact that the piston is additionally cooled with a second oil spray nozzle is intended to improve stability.

Graf demands the mandatory wheelie.
Compared to the 2004 version, the new one goes faster on the rear wheel and appears more dynamic. Which is of course also an advantage if you keep both wheels on the ground. Otherwise, the 640 presents itself as always: hearty, hearty and rough. Just like the hardcore fans love.
