After hypersports, it is the turn of supermotards to embark on the arms race. More horses, more sport, top equipment for the KTM Supermoto which inflates to 999 cc.
The 950 had already exhilarated Oli le Belge during his test… What will he think of this new version of the Supermoto? With 17 more horsepower in the twin, the KTM takes the performance level up a notch. The couple is also progressing, more slightly. It is that for some time, the niche of the big supermotard is growing, with machines threatening for the KTM, such the Ducati 1100 Hypermotard and BMW HP2 Enduro. And beware, the Aprilia SMV 750 Dorsoduro should shake up this little world a little. The Austrian factory therefore gives more resources, especially more watts to the Supermoto to defend its territory and the ascent to all berzingues of demonic paths..
The pilot will even be able to enjoy it for longer with its tank which gains 1.5 liters of capacity. Enough to get to know the new chrome-molybdenum frame whose steering column has straightened to offer even more agility.
Under its revised design with a little more finesse (but still as much bestiality), the chassis is ready to channel the ardor of the driver-engine tandem. Big 48mm inverted fork with radial 4-piston calipers and White Power general damping, it’ll calm the road. Between substantial saddle height, raised pot, cornering and high-dose foot output, the KTM Supermoto oscillates between the toy, the tool and the high-voltage machine. The dashboard is more complete, a real better face to the old console too minimalist (no tachometer, it was a little petty for a machine over 11,000 euros …). Its 191 kg (without gasoline) can pull a little the mouth in front of the lightness of a supermot ‘in single cylinder but the big potato of the twin and the KTM experience has something to agree with many people.
