KTM RC 390 Cup in the PS driving report

Promising, small piece of sports equipment

Content of

For the participants of the ADAC Junior Cup, the presentation of the KTM RC 390 Cup in Magione was the first encounter with their racing machines. And for the journalists a foretaste of a promising little piece of sports equipment.

The nimble one needs four of its 42 series horsepower KTM RC 390 in the cup version, because the organizers do not want the leap in performance from the previous racers to the new RC to be too big. But that’s the only point where the series should stay ahead. Because the racing version is equipped with noble parts such as fully adjustable spring elements from WP, folding levers, a larger and thicker brake disc and a titanium silencer from Akrapovic. The fine parts proved themselves excellently on the rather bumpy little racetrack in the Umbrian Magione.

RC 390 Cup reversed, but it can also be switched to normal gearshift with little effort.

Launch in September

There is also good news to report about the 373 cubic single cylinder. It pulls up from lower speeds without any problems and takes another strong upswing from 6000 rpm. Only shortly before the red shift lamp lights up does he lose his ability to turn.

The only small downer was the front spoiler, which occasionally even touched down briefly in the fast right-hand bend at the end of the straight. Although it was yielding, there is no longer much free space up to the housing cover. But quick hanging-off to avoid such disruptions is also part of training to become a road racing driver. The KTM RC 390 Cup offers very good conditions for this, and those who are simply looking for a nimble, sporty street motorcycle can also look forward to the market launch in September.
