2016 KTM 250 SX

Menus

With enough power to excel on any type of circuit and terrain and its ultra-light chassis, the 250 SX has one of the best power-to-weight ratios in motocross. The unmatched power of the ultralight two-stroke engine makes it a serious competitor to the more complex four-stroke engines.. For 2016, the 250 SX features many upgrades, new colors and graphics, but retains the 2015 model year chassis and engine specs..

Framework

The modern 250 SX frame, comprising profiled chrome-molybdenum steel tubes, combines maximum longitudinal stiffness with optimum torsional stiffness.

Linkage / shock absorber

The 250 SX’s coupling system consists of a high initial rate progression curve ensuring optimum stability. The premium WP 5018 shock absorber guarantees exceptional responsiveness and damping characteristics. Compression and rebound damping can of course be tailored to track conditions and rider preferences.

Triple trees

For 2016, the upper triple clamp features a new handlebar clamp rubber damping system to reduce the level of handlebar vibration. Triple trees maintain front-to-rear adjustability to rider preference.

Fork

The WP suspension adjustable closed-cartridge inverted fork has a diameter of 48mm and offers excellent damping characteristics. The compression and rebound of the fork are adjustable.

Wheels

The 250 SX features ultralight CNC machined hubs, premium Excel rims, new lightweight spokes and aluminum spoke heads that provide maximum stability at minimum weight. Dunlop’s new MX tires (Geomax MX 32) were developed with the KTM racing team in the USA based on factory tests and the racing experience of seasoned riders. They guarantee perfect traction and exceptional performance.

Brakes

High-tech Brembo brakes have always been standard equipment on KTM off-road motorcycles. They are combined with redesigned, lightened wave-type discs with improved thermal resistance manufactured by GALFER. The ultimate solution in braking technology. Weight reduction of 63 g at the front, 32 g at the rear.

Motor

The KTM 250 SX engine combines an unbeatable power-to-weight ratio, exceptional performance and great handling.

Cylinder

The cylinder of the 250 SX is equipped with a sophisticated TVC (Twin Valve Control) exhaust valve that can be quickly changed with two springs (supplied) and allows the power to be adjusted according to the circuit and the rider’s preferences..

Carburetor

The 250 SX is equipped with the proven Keihin PWK 38S AG carburetor, which produces a perfect air-fuel mixture over the entire operating range under ordinary conditions. At extreme temperatures or at altitude, the setting can be adjusted using the jets and needles provided by following the settings list in the manual.

Clutch

The KTM DDS (Damped Diaphragm Steel) clutch is equipped with a diaphragm spring allowing the use of an internal rubber damping system. With the ultra-light bell and Brembo hydraulic system, the DDS clutch offers maximum reliability, excellent modulation and reduced leverage.

Air box

The new airbox design provides optimum protection of the air filter against clogging and maximum air flow, thus allowing maximum performance. Quick replacement of the dual air filter – without tools and in seconds – has long been a KTM standard.

Handlebar

The 250 SX is equipped with a new NEKEN tapered handlebar in high strength aluminum, mounted on a new clamping flange fitted with a damper gasket and offering two handlebar mounting positions. A large anti-shock pad mounted on the handlebars protects the rider in the event of an accident.

Saddle

Perfectly ergonomic, the new saddle has a resistant foam plastic core ensuring comfort and longevity..

Graphics

New graphic design in clear lines underlines the high demands placed on a top off-road motorcycle.

Dressing

KTM engineers have made every effort to design an ergonomic and functional trim offering a perfect harmony between the bike and the rider, down to the smallest detail. The front fender is the perfect example of how molded plastic components achieve maximum stability through a well-designed structure and attachment.
