KTM 690 DUKE R 2011

Menus

The KTM Duke is quite simply the smartest and trashiest mono roadster ever. KTM tradition requires, the manufacturer declines an R version, as on all the main models of its range. Here we are in front of a superb interpretation of sports mono. This Duke R’s unique dress immediately announces the slap; just enough to violate the protruding edges of the machine a little more. Spoke rims, sport tires, industrial building beam-style swingarm, insane braking with radial caliper and stunning fork crown are no different from the standard Duke 3. It changes more on the side of the front fender, here in carbon, the frame painted in orange like all the R models of Katoche, and a lot in the bowels of the beast.

The stroke of the single cylinder is increased by 4.5 mm to achieve a real displacement of 690 cm3; the normal Duke only cubs 654 cc. Lighter piston, revised injection and ignition, new connecting rod and new crankshaft, and watch your eyes, 70 horsepower at the output. Frankly impressive for an engine of this type. The LC4 also announces increased torque, available earlier. If I remind you that the Duke weighs only 148 kgs, you have just crashed … The machine is formidable! Without changing the suspensions, KTM revised the hydraulic laws for more efficiency. We are also entitled, as in hypersports, to a choice of 3 injection maps – the only problem is the accessibility of the control box to change the mapping. The other little problem is the price charged for this devilish device…
