Anyone who hears the name of the manufacturer Lotus instantly inspires a rush of adrenaline, a scent of sports cars, a revived thrill of the past. Barely digging into the history of the brand created by Colin Chapman, we sparkle in front of the Seven of 1957, we remain silent in front of the 7 titles of world champion of Formula 1, we fall for the Spirit driven by James Bond … . But what does this English brand (now under the Malaysian flag) do in the motorcycle world? ?

Quite simply because Lotus is entering the two-wheeler galaxy, with a daring and personal vision of a sports machine. His weapon: the C-01. A sports motorcycle? Reality will lead us to an exercise style dubbed by a muscular motorization.
Two years of study, an achievement entrusted to the Kodewa team (the structure managing Endurance cars in the LMP2 category), a very high-end positioning. The C-01 stands out for its construction but above all for its silhouette. As sexy as a jet engine with the delicacy and comfort of a torpedo. The machine seems obviously predestined to adorn sumptuous windows rather than face the scent of vibrators.

Using carbon fiber, titanium, and aircraft-grade steel, the Lotus C-01’s chassis has little equivalent in current production. On the mechanical side, the terrain is better known. The block chosen is a twin of 1195 cm3, with an Austrian flavor. Katoche? Yes, the engine is from the RC8-R. It gains a nice handful of watts, shamelessly displaying 200 horsepower. The bike accusing only 181 kilos dry, the velocity promises to be prominent.

The price is abominable. But everything is planned so that the machine is rare, envied, expensive and sufficiently exotic to put its wheels on the road only exceptionally. 100 copies will be produced, with extensive customization possibilities. For example, 3 versions have been unveiled: the yellow and black of the famous Lotus 78, the first F1 ground effect; the Martini red-blue-white color (rather immortalized on rally Lancias); and a very F1 yellow and green cocktail.
