EICMA 2019

The Italian two-wheeler brand Malaguti is presenting the Drakon 125 at the EICMA in Milan. It comes as a sporty naked bike in the supermoto style. There is also another brand outlook.

A.The Drakon 125 is still being presented as a concept bike at the Milan trade fair. The sporty naked bike has been completely redesigned and is one of the first results of the design center set up in 2019 at KSR’s corporate headquarters in Austria. Accordingly, it hardly takes over any part of the 125cc sister models that are already available. The Drakon competes with 17-inch cast rims, USD fork, central spring strut and under-engine exhaust. A clad headlight hangs in front of the fork, and the slender rear juts up to a point. Overall, the Drakon borrows many designs from KTM’s Duke models. The Drakon 125 is scheduled to go into series production in the second half of 2020.

Outlook on electric athletes

But e-mobility is also important to Malaguti. The RSTE concept vehicle was also on display – a fully disguised racing bike that is driven by a centrally located electric motor with a maximum output of 8 kW (3 kW rated continuous output). The power is transferred to the rear wheel via a manual transmission. Two lithium battery packs with 1.68 kWh each should provide a range that is more than just suitable for everyday use. Malaguti has set itself the goal of bringing the silent racer onto the market by the end of 2020.

In addition, the Madison scooter will also be launched in the eight-liter class in the future; the DUNE, XTM, XSM and RST models will also be available with a 250 cc engine.
