850 cm3 – A displacement steeped in history, which has become legendary at Moto-Guzzi and which takes us back to the glorious era of the Calif and Le Mans in the 1970s. This displacement is now back to equip the Griso (as well as a new version de la Breva). Is it the old 844 cm3 that is coming back modernized? Or the little re-cubed Nevada 750? No, it is the big 1100 which loses in displacement (via reduction of the stroke) to display odds of 92 x 66, values much more square than the 83 x 78 of the twin of the beautiful era mentioned at the beginning..
This 877 cm3 develops the very respectable power of 76 horses … to propel a motorcycle almost identical to the 1100 because the differences between the 2 machines can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Economy and standardization oblige, the Mandello firm has kept everything from the big Griso and it will not displease us. Only changes identified: the removal of the side oil cooler, the frame tubes painted black and the transmission painted gray.
The advertised price makes the Griso a little more accessible. At less than 11,500 €, it is obviously more affordable than the 1100 but remains expensive for an 850. On the other hand, its face and its presence are assets of choice..
