Honda CBR 250 RR (2020)

Upgrades for the beginner athlete

Honda has presented the new CBR 250 RR in Japan, which is intended for the Asian region. The small Fireblade will not reach customers in Europe.

D.he bad news first: It is very likely that we will have to do without the new Honda CBR 250 RR in this country. The previous model was already intended for the Asian region – the new and in many places revised CBR 250 RR of the 2020 model year also met a similar fate. Honda has given the entry-level athlete some updates compared to the previous model. The liquid-cooled 249 cm³ in-line two-cylinder engine delivers three hp more than its predecessor. So there are 41 HP at 13,000 tours on the data sheet of the new CBR 250 RR. The maximum torque of 25 Nm is reached at 11,000 revolutions. Also new are a quickshifter, ride-by-wire and the three driving fashions "Comfort", "Sports", and "Sports+". An LC display and LED lighting are also on board.

Visually closer to the Fireblade

In addition to the technical innovations, Honda has also honed the look of the CBR 250 RR, which looks a bit more modern and aggressive in model year 2020. Apparently Honda wanted to bring the small CBR closer to the supersport flagship Fireblade and other better motorized current Honda supersport models.

Honda

The new Honda CBR 250 RR is unlikely to make it to Europe.

The new CBR 250 RR is offered in Asia in two different versions – one with and one without ABS. Potential buyers can choose from four different color variants – the HRC paintwork, which is based on the design of the Honda Fireblade from the Superbike World Championship, is also available. In order to reinforce the quality impression, various components such as the USD fork and the rims were painted gold.

In Japan, Honda calls a starting price of 847,000 yen, which corresponds to just under 7,000 euros. The CBR 250 RR is not a real bargain. With the ZX-25R, Kawasaki recently presented a similar new model, which is likely to be the biggest competitor of the new Honda.

Conclusion

With the revised CBR 250 RR, Honda delivers a promising entry-level athlete for the Asian region, which knows how to please technically and visually, but is not really cheap.
