Updates for the mid-range naked bike

EICMA 2019

The Kawasaki Z 650 will receive some updates for the 2020 model year. The naked bike was shown for the first time at the EICMA in Milan.

After the Ninja 650, the second Kawa bike will also be revised for 2020 with the 649 in-line twin. The Kawasaki, first presented in 2017 Z Unlike the Ninja, the 650 remains visually almost unchanged, apart from new paintwork. There are some updates in terms of equipment. With the engine and the chassis everything seems to remain as it was the case with the previous model. The two-cylinder continues to develop 68 hp at 8,000 tours and 65.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm.

New color display and smartphone connectivity

Kawasaki has slightly redesigned the seat of the Z 650. The changes are said to have made the pillion seat much more comfortable thanks to deeper and wider upholstery. In addition, Kawa has given the mid-range naked bike a new TFT color display that can be linked to the smartphone. The connection is made via Bluetooth and the Kawasaki Rideology app. LED lighting elements are also new. The Japanese manufacturer opted for the Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 for the series tires.

Kawasaki

The Kawasaki Z 650 will receive some updates in the 2020 model year.

In 2020, there will again be three color variants for potential buyers to choose from: “Candy lime green / Metallic spark black”, “Metallic spark black” and “Pearl blizzard white / Metallic spark black”. Kawasaki has not yet revealed when the revised Z 650 will be available. The traditional Japanese manufacturer has not yet commented on the price. For comparison: the current Z 650 is available from 6,995 euros (plus additional costs). The slightly revised Z 650 of the 2020 model year should also be in a similar area.

Conclusion

Although the updates to the Kawasaki Z 650 for the 2020 model year are not necessarily earth-shattering, the popular mid-range naked bike has been sensibly revised in some places. In all likelihood, it will continue to be the most frequently sold model from Kawasaki along with the Z 900.
