The underdog: Kawasaki Vulcan S conversion

… Today, one son of many fathers rules: They created from decades of experience in tuning, customizing and chassis optimization "The underdog" – come to bite.
GCreated for the most exciting sprint challenge of 2016, the Essenza races. Which are held according to rigid rules: Pure Bikes. No dragsters. Two wheels. Two cylinders. Maximum 1200 cm³. Venues: Glemseck 101 in September and INTERMOT in Cologne. In addition, the most beautiful bike will be chosen via a public voting. It is already clear: autumn 2016 will be hot.
Many people were interested in the Essenza race from the start. A ‘Green Dream Team’ is formed ad hoc around Kawasaki. The starting point is a normal chopper that was never intended for sprint races: the Vulcan S. With rather little power. With a road chassis for harmless cruising. With absolutely no sporting genes. Can such a motorcycle ever survive a sprint race??
Understatement
The protagonists who are based on this "The underdog" created, initially acted as initiators. The right men on the right levers: Tomy Holzner from Warm Up Motorradtechnik from Aalen immediately turned to the engine guru Holy from Schriesheim with Dieter Briese at the scepter about the mild engine power. Because: The Vulcan S has just 649 cm³ and 61 hp by default – and at 228 kg is not exactly at the forefront when it comes to an eighth-mile sprint race.
The parallel twin thus underwent extensive doping: new intake system, head machining, new connecting rods and a new crankshaft; Alternator out and much more. Result: top performance around 90 hp. In order to really show it to the others, however, more pressure, power, performance was needed – and the magic word was: nitrous oxide injection! That should be good for 150 little horses. The weight reduction to 185 kilos shouldn’t harm the goal either.

Man at work
World
Design tail from Dimitris 3D printer
Tomy Holzner was available for bodywork, aerodynamics and a grim green appearance: he first modeled the silhouette on the computer. The man of trust, Dimitri "actually i don’t know anything about motorcycles" showed on the 3D printer what it can do, modeled and plotted the product after what felt like 1000 adjustment moments until it fit exactly.
Bearing guru Emil Schwarz was responsible for all smoothly operating bearings and really got involved in order to let the last shaft rotate without play. Last but not least, LSL Capo Jochen Schmitz-Linkweiler reached deep into the optimized add-on parts box.
The ambitious Green Dream Team wants to let the underdog take a hard bite in the drag race on the Glemseck on September 3, 2016. The opponents should bring a muzzle …
