Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 (2019)
Return of the Kawa super sports car
Content of
The Kawasaki ZX-6R celebrates its return to Europe in the 2019 model year – with 636 cm³. The price is already known at 11,695 euros (plus additional costs). It will be available in two colors.
“600, 636, 600 – and now 636 again. Kawasaki packs on the displacement, takes away again, packs on again. As you wish. "- This is what MOTORRAD test boss Andreas Bildl wrote at the end of 2012 when testing the then new Kawasaki ZX-6R 636. In 2017, the Euro 3 mid-range ninja was still on sale, for 2018 it was removed from the Kawasaki model range, in order to be available again for super sports enthusiasts in the 2019 model year, updated and Euro 4 standardized.
Bore x stroke, compression ratio and number of valves (16) have not changed compared to the 2016 version, but the mixture preparation: The fuel is now injected through openings with a diameter of 47 mm instead of 38 mm – with double injection nozzles. At the same speed (13,500 rpm), the 2019 Kawasaki ZX-6R now has 131 instead of the previous 130 hp, with the maximum torque being almost unchanged at 71 Nm, but with the 2019 ZX-6R now 500 revs earlier, ie at 11,000 rpm.
ZX-6R 2019 cheaper than 2016
The mid-range Ninja is not only taking a step back in terms of displacement, but also in terms of price: the Ninja 636 cost 13,195 euros in the 2016 model year. The 2019 Kawasaki ZX-6R is now from 11,695 euros. But that’s it with the setbacks. Thanks to the Quickshifter, you can now shift up to the clutch lever without having to use the handle. Standard ace.
Also on board at no extra charge: fully adjustable Showa BFF fork, high-performance brakes, traction control adjustable in three stages, LED headlights and multifunctional instrument in the cockpit. Fortunately, the latter integrates an analog speedometer. Gear, consumption and range are shown on the LC display.
From racetrack use to winding country roads and everyday use – the new Ninja ZX-6R should be all-round fun thanks to the increased torque in the lower and medium speed range as well as shorter shifting distances. It goes without saying that it also complies with the Euro 4 standard.
The 2019 ZX-6R is equipped with Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tires, which at the same time support easy handling and provide grip on dry and wet roads.
The Kawasaki ZX-6R rolls in model year 2019 in green and black from 11,895 euros or in all black for 11,695 euros.
