Motorcycle used report: Honda VFR 800 VTEC
For many bikers, the acronym VFR evokes a reference label for sport-GT motorcycles. The Honda VFR foreshadowed this segment and still occupies it thanks to its versatility and reliability. So many qualities that deserve to dwell on the 800 VTEC on occasion !
Truly Reliable Reference
For a long time one of the rare Honda motorcycles powered by a V4, the VFR 800 VTEC is still today the sport-road reference for many bikers (read our). Even the recent VFR 1200 has not compromised this status, because the qualities of versatility and reliability of that which remains for all the VFR "quite short" remain exceptional..

Even the recent VFR 1200 did not undermine this state of affairs, because the qualities of versatility and reliability of what remains for most bikers the "very short" VFR remain exceptional..
Other motorcycles, at Honda or other brands, are more sporty, still others are more GT-type, but the subtle balance that makes the extraordinary versatility of the VFR class apart from motorcycle production since 1986 , year of release of the first VFR: the VFR750F.
After 14 years of reign in this displacement and two main versions of the V4 750 (RC24 in 1986, RC24II in 1988, RC36 in 1990 and finally RC36II in 1994), Honda presented the VFR 800 FI (RC46) at the end of 1997. At the end of 2001 then came the current 800 VTEC version (RC46II). In 2010, the world giant released a V4 1200 on the VFR 1200 and a year later launched the Crossrunner, powered by the V4 800 revised and corrected for a more trail program. Finally in 2012, the Crosstourer takes over the 1200 V4 engine.
But back to our "anti-sheep"! Because where a sheep stupidly follows the herd, the VFR is an initiator of a genre that is very difficult to imitate, let alone equal it..
Even today, take the handlebars of a VFR 800 – almost unchanged since 2002! – it is to take full advantage, and for a very long time thanks to an almost irreproachable reliability, of a motorcycle which combines qualities of sportiness and ease of driving that no other machine provides to date.
