The response from readers was phenomenal, we will ride a lot of motorcycles, get to know new routes and people. Our first trip takes us to the cornering paradise of Jeanette and Sugus on Lake Constance.

A Goldwing? This is just unreal! Ironically, in the first part of the house track series do the Goldwing? Helmut Sulger, whom his friends call Sugus, and his girlfriend Jeanette Mukensturm are standing in the driveway with a jet helmet, jeans and summer blouson and can no longer suppress their laughter – we must have looked stupid. Then the two give the all-clear: The rolling living room belongs to the neighbors, in the garage there is a sparkling clean Fireblade SC57 and a Honda CBR 600 RR. Even the dusty Yamaha TDM in the corner is actually embarrassing to Sugus. “I’m selling them right now,” he smiles.
The couple from Lake Constance not far from the well-known pile dwellings, an open-air museum about the Stone Age settlements on the lake, talk about running training courses they do every year together. Sugus has competed in series sport for a number of years, and has also contested the 1000 kilometer race in Hockenheim. Jea-Nette has already won two hill climbs in Switzerland with a Honda CB 250. She always laughs at the strange trophies. But sports motorcycles – that’s their thing.
The two-cylinder CB also brought the two together. “Jeanette turned up at my screwdriver,” laughs the 42-year-old coachbuilder. “I told her that if she can kick the Honda, she can drive.” No problem for the petite curative educator. Jeanette has been driving the first real motorcycle since she was 16, first on an 80s, then after a short break and the driving test. The bacillus has not let go of her since then.
When both reappear in full leather gear, it starts. From our hometown of Uhldingen we drive towards Owingen in the hinterland of Lake Constance. Perfectly paved roads with super curves and fast arcs make this warm spring morning a dream.
The two drive a lot together and are perfectly coordinated. Sugus sets the pace, Jeanette clings to it. “There’s little traffic here, it’s wonderful to let it slide,” both later rave about the area. You know the really winding routes. With a speed of 180 on the highway is not her thing. Bending on the last groove is not necessary either. “That’s why we go to the racetrack,” says Sugus. Here at home, they prefer to throw the Hondas into tight bends up and downhill at the weekend. There are countless opportunities for this, because the roads wind here along ridges and down into valleys like in a low mountain range. There are actually no boring connecting roads with long straight passages, so the three of us sportily wag through the nature, which is slowly awakening from hibernation.
We stop and take a few photos, explain how PS does it in photo productions and drive in formation to a clearly arranged place for the album. Then we rave about motorcycles, rant about intolerant contemporaries and laugh at the most beautiful motorcycle anecdotes.

The roads in the hinterland of Lake Constance are a paradise for motorcyclists.
Again it’s time to put your helmet on and go on. Turn left, turn right, the lake appears between the trees. Every now and then another motorcyclist comes towards us. Sugus lifts his fingers in greeting. Motorcycling means a lot to both of them. They reel up to 20,000 kilometers a year. When Jeanette and Sugus talk, their eyes flash. They don’t believe that this could ever change.
“Before the MotoGP races, I do my personal warm-up here,” Sugus grins and means the first part of the tour, which he then shortens at Bonndorf and drives down to Ludwigshafen. The big lap on race-free days usually leads to the Hegaublick, a popular motorcycle meeting place near Engen. Our tour ends in uberlingen directly on the lake. There’s not much going on this early in the year. “From May onwards, it will no longer be fun along the lake – everything is full of tourists,” says Jeanette. But their home track is simply a motorcycle dream all year round. And thank God the Goldwing was just a gag!

Mediterranean climate, varied landscape, well-paved roads and curves in abundance – the home route by Sugus and Jeanette is a real tip for sporty, ambitious country road fans. In addition to the numerous sights along Lake Constance, the Hegau also attracts with volcanic cones from the pre-ice age that adorn many castle ruins. The “Hegaublick” is a popular motorcycle meeting point where hundreds of bikers romp about on weekends. In summer, the routes directly along the lake should be avoided, as streams of tourists torment themselves in endless lines of cars through the small communities.
