Italian GP: Rossi expects to suffer at Mugello…
Valentino Rossi arrives on his land at Mugello with the obligation to perform at this 2017 Italian Grand Prix to make up for his mistake in France, like Marc Marquez. But the Doctor will have to deal with severe pain following his fall in motocross…
Valentino Rossi lost big in, under the pressure of Maverick Viñales: the victory or at least the podium which stretched out his arms, as well as the first place in the general classification which he occupied when arriving at Le Mans. To make matters worse, the nine-time world champion stuck one back during a motocross training last week, resulting in a stay in Rimini hospital and chest and abdominal pains! In short, not the best way to prepare for "his" national Grand Prix at Mugello, the scene of his finest victories….
“Unfortunately I crashed during motocross training. I still have severe pain in my abdomen and chest. But my condition is improving day by day, which allows me to be a a little more optimistic in view of Mugello ", reassures the Doctor, who came down to third place in the provisional 23 points from Viñales and 6 from Pedrosa following his mistake in France.
"My desire to be present at the start of the Italian Grand Prix is so strong that I am doing everything to recover as quickly as possible. It will not be easy, but I still have a few days of treatment ahead of me. will go to the medical visit to receive the green light from the doctors. If all goes well, I will ride my YZR-M1 on Friday, and that’s where I can really judge my condition. I will do my best to compete in the race Sunday".
let’s remember that Valentino Rossi no longer won at Mugello after his fantastic seven-game winning streak from 2002 to 2008. His best result since is a third place in 2009, 2014 and 2015 (read our retrospectives below), while the 2010 edition was marred by his serious injury to the leg and that the 2016 race ended in a frustrating retirement due to engine failure of his Yamaha (above) … Hopefully a happier outcome this weekend for the # 46, acclaimed like a god in the Tuscan stands !
