“It’s absolutely amazing to win four. Even after winning back-to-back championships, even three in a row, I have to say it’s hard to find the words to talk about what you just did. is like we’re riding a wave right now with our Ninja ZX-10RRR, with amazing people by my side. Although I’ve always dreamed of being in this situation, I never thought she was. realistic. It was so well seen that Guim, the manager of the team, allowed my father to come and collect the team’s prize on the podium. It touched me a lot to see him, because it made me feel recalled my childhood in Northern Ireland, my travels with my parents to compete in motocross races. Then I got my first pro road racing handlebars, and my parents had to let me go. But they still have me supported. So it was super nice.

"Father (Riba, his cef-mechanic, editor’s note) and my team gave me a great bike this weekend and the objective was clear. We had already been in this situation before, so there was no kind nervousness or anxiety, it was really a positive energy. On the track, Fabien (Foret, read our long interview, Editor‘s note) analyzed what we could do and the team worked very hard all weekend to get the best out of the bike when the tire did wear out. The heat and the end of the race, that’s what we worked on today. The feeling with the bike didn’t stop growing. improve and I managed to give my all in the last lap. You could feel the presence of the public and I realized what I was about to achieve. In the last lap, I thought about the championship. is amazing, and it’s an amazing adventure ".

Tom Sykes (Kawasaki n ° 66), 2nd:

"It’s not a bad day, but I’m a little disappointed that we suffered a bit during the race. I settled into a good rhythm but when I wanted to attack, we missed it. have talked to the guys since, and I think we know what it is. I enjoyed this race a lot. When I tried to push, I lost the front a few times. Knowing that, I am satisfied the way the race went today. I’m excited and motivated for tomorrow. I think we can improve our setup a bit. We will have to start from third place, so we will have to be a little aggressive. Today is Jonathan Rea’s. He had four fantastic, flawless years. He worked really hard and did a great job. Congratulations to him, his family and his side of the garage. Tomorrow we will try to win".

Xavi Fores (Ducati n ° 12), 3rd:

“It was a very good race for me. At first I thought I would be able to follow and even overtake Tom (Sykes) but after seven or eight laps I felt a big drop in performance up front so I decided to pick up my pace trying to defend the podium. I knew Lorenzo (Savadori) was very close but I was faster than him in some areas, and he was faster than me in others. , he was not able to close the gap. I had a very strong pace until the end and I deserved this podium ".

Lorenzo Savadori (Aprilia n ° 32), 4th:

“Qualifying was very positive. Third today was our maximum, but I’m happy to come back to the front row. It’s a good reward for the team who worked very hard to fix the bike afterwards. my crash this morning, and they got a perfect bike ready for qualifying. In the race we struggled for a long time with the rear grip. I tried to stay on the podium but the Kawasaki were way ahead and I was almost at limit to follow. It was difficult to pass Fores for third place and I had to manage the gap with Davies. Nevertheless, fourth place is a good result after the previous race (6th in Portimao 2, Editor’s note) and j ‘hopes to take another step tomorrow from pole position ".

Chaz Davies (Ducati n ° 7), 5th:

"We did everything we could to get back to Fores and Savadori, and in the middle of the race I could feel the podium getting closer. But towards the end, we really couldn’t combine everything because I had a problem with the brakes. engine and I couldn’t ride as smoothly as I wanted. It’s a shame we couldn’t fight, but overall I’m happy with our performance. Physically I’m not 100%, but I’m felt pretty good during the race. So now we’re going to try to make the bike a little more docile, and enjoy the start from the front row tomorrow ".

Michael van der Mark (Yamaha n ° 60), 7th:

“It was a very difficult race. This morning we tried a few things on the bike that didn’t work out as expected, so we went back to yesterday’s setup for qualifying. My Superpole lap gave me the ride. good, but the weather was not right so I started the race today from the fourth row of the grid which was not ideal. From the start I struggled with the rear grip and that made the race long and difficult for me. Now we have to sit down with the guys, carefully analyze the data and find a solution, even if it means making some big changes to the bike before the warm-up. up tomorrow. I hope we can improve this night and that this will allow us to fight again for the podium of the second race ".

Eugene Laverty (Aprilia n ° 50), 9th:

“I made a mistake in SP1: I thought I was safe because the gap to third place was so big. Razgatlioglu took me by surprise and pushed me to thirteenth place, which was a shame. far was difficult but I came back up and managed to get into ninth place. I had a few battles along the way. I basically had to limit the damage, it was a difficult race. The inverted grid us will help and give me a better chance of a good result starting from sixth place, but we have to improve on the rear tire. It was not working well today and I did not trust it. I hope so the guys can get the hang of it tonight and we’ll have a better time tomorrow ".

Loris Baz (BMW n ° 76), 10th:

“The last practice session went well. Qualifying was a bit trickier, but the result was pretty good and I was confident for the race. I missed my start, but quickly passed Marco Melandri to pull me up in Michael van der Mark’s wake. I felt comfortable and we managed to close the gap on Toprak Razgatlioglu. They quickly passed him, but I took a little longer to do the same when I knew I had the pace to follow Marco. I again lost the lead of my rear wheel and the bike started to vibrate, but rather the grip of the front tire which gave me a problem. In three laps, I had no more grip and lost the front end with each change of angle. It’s surprising, because we had not encountered this problem since the start of the weekend. end. So I tried to manage, but Toprak regained the advantage. I gave everything to call him, but couldn’t pass him. Eugene Laverty also took the opportunity to pass me before the arrival. It’s a shame, I thought I could get a good result. I give my all on the bike, but that’s not enough to make the difference ".

Leon Camier (Honda n ° 2), 11th:

"I got off to a good start today, but in the third lap Rinaldi crashed in front of me which cost me a few places: when I passed him I got really hot with the rear …. then I thought there was oil on the track, I raised my hand to warn the other riders and they all drove past. That made me back up a bit, so I concentrated on closing the gap. I was able to establish a good pace in the middle of the race, but I could not do better than eleventh, given the disappointment at the start of the race. set our bike today than yesterday, so we will continue in that direction and start again tomorrow ".
