The Kawasaki n ° 11 (Gregory Leblanc, Matthieu Lagrive and Fabien Foret) will therefore start at the head tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. on the Le Mans circuit in front of the Yamaha n ° 7 of the YART Monster Energy () Max Neukirchner, Ivan Silva and Sheridan Morais) and Honda Racing n ° 111 (Julien da Costa, Sebastien Gimbert and Freddy Foray).
"Obviously, getting pole position is not the most important thing in an endurance race, but it is still appreciable to be well placed at the start so as not to be trapped among the other drivers", s’ is delighted Gilles Stafler, team manager of the SRC Kawasaki: "our riders are fast but above all our strength is to have a very homogeneous crew. This pole position attests to the work that the team has done on the bike, this season but also years past. Unlike some of our competitors who have to deal with the arrival of a new machine, we know it perfectly ".
New track record !
Note that Sheridan Morais on the handlebars of the Yamaha n ° 7 completed a lap of 1’36.578, setting the new track record in a 24 Hours Motos event after that of Julien da Costa in 2012 (1’36.826) !
"The qualifying sessions were very intense and I am happy to have beaten this record, nevertheless I must say that I was lucky because I was able to achieve clear laps without other riders in my path", explained the South African pilot.
The official SERT No. 30 Suzuki (Vincent Philippe, Anthony Delhalle and Etienne Masson) has to settle for fourth place on the grid ahead of the No. 13 BMW Motorrad France Penz13 (Markus Reiterberger, Garet Jones and Pedro Vallcaneras) and the Yamaha n ° 94 of the GMT reigning world champion (David Checa, Kenny Foray and Mathieu Ginès).
"Starting from 4th position is neither a disappointment nor a handicap", puts Vincent Philippe in perspective: "as with every 24 hour race, the battle will be long and tough, so we must not play with the limits too much. . We prefer to stay calm and start the race in the best possible way as we are used to doing. Now a little rest, relaxation in the hands of our expert "Hubert" and I will be in great shape tomorrow! "
"Even though we have lost a battle, the war is far from over!"
"We are preparing for the race and even if we lost a battle, the war is far from over!", Confirms SERT team manager Dominique Meliand..
As for Marcel Driessen, director of BMW Motorrad France, he is "very proud of the work of Rico (Penzkofer, the team manager, Editor’s note) and of his entire team. I wish Bastien (Mackels, injured during a practice session for the German IDM Superbike Championship last week and replaced by the Australian Gareth Jones, editor’s note) and I remain confident that we can achieve a good result with the choice of Reiterberger, Vallcaneras, Jones and Pesek as drivers. With this fifth place on the grid and the second fastest qualifying time, I believe we are showing that BMW Motorrad is back at the top level this year with the and this great team driven by so much passion and of determination ".
In Supersport, the Yamaha n ° 4 of Tati Team Beaujolais Racing (Julien Enjolras, Cedric Tangue and Michael Savary) will start from pole, while in Open, it is the Metiss n ° 45 (Christophe Michel, Cyril Huvier and Emmanuel Cheron) who will open the ball.
