The leading teams confide

The abandonment of GMT 94 made – a little – the task of SERT, GSR Kawa, Honda France and company … Stand after stand, Site collected everyone’s impressions.

Michel Guerre, technical manager of the GMT has low morale: "Sebastien caught a foreign body in the radiator, then the engine went up very quickly to 130/140 degrees when David left and we made a cylinder head gasket", he tells Site."We came to win, we only did seven laps…", he adds annoyed.

The morale of the whole team is at its lowest but the intentions for the next victory are there: "we will be at the next Bol d’Or with the same objective: to win ! ", concludes the technical manager, determined to ward off bad luck.

On the side of Team GSR Kawasaki # 11, now is the time for concentration. While the rain threatens to nearly three hours of race, the forecasts are delicate. Gilles Stafler, Team manager gives us – very – briefly his impressions: "Everything will depend on the weather…", he launches rather worried.

Bernard Rigoni, competition director at Honda France and Team manager of Team 111 confided in the motorcycle newspaper of the net: "Matthew (Lagrive, NDLR) had a good start before falling on a mistake on his part: he wanted to put too much angle, he put everything on the ground which caused the rear to drop, he over-fished !".

But the French boss knows how to recognize the qualities of his world endurance champion driver: "Matthieu is an excellent hare for his teammates, he has the pace, the sin, and for his fall at the start of the race nobody blames him".

Having left after a reconditioning which made it lose a lot of minutes, the Honda n ° 111 climbed back up to 15th place, 6 laps behind the leader at the gong of the fourth hour of the race. "We continue on our rhythm", says Bernard Rigoni," hoping that we have eaten our black bread … ".

Within the SERT, we regret that the rain started so slowly: "we took advantage of a change of driver to fit rain tires, it was then just a little drizzle at the c **", informs us Dominique Meliand.

"Unfortunately, the rain got louder and things were wrong", regrets the charismatic chef of the Suz ‘. The footwear of the n ° 1 no longer corresponds to the track conditions, an additional stop had to be made. Sacred Sarthois climate !

Right in the middle of the Power Research Team box, a crowd of mechanics is bustling around a boneless CBR … "The tires work very well", reassures us at the outset Jean-Philippe Weber !

"We are a young team and we have problems on the motorcycle, electric or electronic in nature we don’t really know", testifies the head of motorcycle racing at Michelin.

After a first pit stop and replacement of the alternator, Honda n ° 63 is this time completely dismantled: "the engine continues to cut, if in doubt we change the complete harness and many parts, hoping to start again for good".

The Clermont-Ferrand manufacturer can however be delighted with the performance of the YART and the superb comeback of Sebastien Charpentier on the handlebars of his Honda n ° 111 … "Rain tires work particularly hard", welcomes Jean-Philippe Weber.
