The 2017 vintage of Japanese hypersport motorcycles is exceptional: the sharp Kawasaki ZX-10R and Yamaha R1 are at the top of their game, while the Honda CBR1000RR and Suzuki GSX-R1000 have finally returned to sport and technology.. Site contrasts these four thin 1000 cc blades on the road and on the circuit in an exclusive Superbike comparison on the web !

It’s not every day that MNC has the pleasure of confronting the flagship of Japanese sports production: in fact, this match between the CBR1000RR, the GSX-R1000, the ZX-10R and the R1 is the very first organized by Le Journal moto du Net in 19 years of existence! And it is also the only one, to our knowledge, available for free in the French press. !

Enough to strengthen on the one hand the leadership position of your favorite motorcycle information site, but also – and above all! – establish a hierarchy between the four Japanese Superbikes 2017, at a time when each is once again capable of running for the top of the category. An opposition provided, therefore, as in the heyday when the 1000 cc of the archipelago pulled out the fluff with great blows of changes every two years !

To carry out this hypersportive confrontation, MNC has as usual decided to oppose the four contenders on the road and then on the circuit, where we went to the handlebars of the motorcycles, all in the original version (tires and suspensions " stock"). This line of conduct responds to a concern for fairness, but also for reality: after all, it is in this configuration that their future owners will discover them when they leave the dealership. !

In short, in this road and track setting, the Yamaha R1 is doing well according to our criteria below. Although older in design (2015), the Iwata hypersport stands out for its breathtaking silhouette, advanced technology, engine character and formidable efficiency on the track. In this, the R1 is the most "Latin" of Japanese production: demanding but sensational, like the first of the name in 1998. !

Just behind, at a very short length, the GSX-R1000R makes a noticeable return to the forefront. The "Gex" has improved in all areas (especially electronics and agility), while renewing its distinctive quality appreciated by "GSX-R-ists": its impressive engine, despite more linear acceleration than previous generations. Sensations lose – a little – where efficiency and operability gain a lot !

Third – and this is a little surprise – the Kawasaki ZX-10R is making a good appearance on the podium! If the title holder did not really convince us on the road (unlike the GSX-R), mainly because of its hollow engine and its maneuverability in decline, its potential on the circuit proved to be bluffing. !

The "Zak" also scores big thanks to its advanced electronics, as well as its suspension and braking as luxurious as they are efficient. The best equipment / price ratio, that’s it! And what a front axle: certainly less lively, it is on the other hand a marvel of precision and stability. Its rivals with hyper radical ratings (a bit too much?) Can take the seed !

Fourth and last in this comparison, the CBR1000RR brings up the rear despite all the proven qualities of its profound and impressive redesign. Why then do the efforts of the winged crest not result in a better position in the MNC ranking? The reasons are multiple: weakness of its equipment (and the shifter, then?), Neglected comfort and especially protection and electronics a notch below on the track are part of the list..

In itself, not much: the detail of the notes below testify to the high degree of competitiveness of the – very fine – "Blade of Fire". But put end to end, these small weaknesses cannot be forgiven in the premier category of production motorcycles. !
