C600Sport, Integra or Tmax 530: which scooter for bikers ?
This year, the Tmax will be the best-selling large cube in France, ahead of the Z750! Two big rivals of Yamaha in France react: frontal opposition for BMW and its C 600 Sport, more roundabout at Honda with the Integra. Comparo maxiscoots !
Weight differences…
Installation on board its three machines is a little trickier than it seems, especially on the Integra. The Honda’s central deck is so high that it is best to ride it like a motorcycle to avoid marking the parts that the Japanese tried to paint..
The other two scooters are more easily climbed from the front but the traces left on the two press vehicles by the previous testers prove that it is not easy, at the beginning in any case, to perch on these cattle. !
The next step, the stand up, also has some surprises in store for bikers uninitiated to maxiscoots! The C 600 Sport, one could suspect it with the manufacturer data, is the least obvious to straighten and to maneuver, or the more "sporty" one would be trying to write…
Weighing just less, the Integra is easier to handle thanks to a center of gravity that we feel placed lower. Even decked out with a top-case and side cases, the Honda is more obvious to understand: the NC700 family, no doubt !
The C 600 Sport: heavy but clever
The Tmax is therefore the easiest of the three to enter. Be careful, however, before trying to move the scooter, not to forget to release the handbrake, placed under its left stalk. Honda housed this control lower on the apron while BMW, on this occasion, played it thinner than its comrades !
Indeed, the handbrake control of the C600Sport – it is often a second caliper placed on the rear disc – is automatically coupled with the side stand. No need to think about engaging or releasing this system which allows users of maxiscoots to stop their mount on slight slopes.
Likewise, if the two large storage compartments of the Behème do not have a lock, it is good to know that the one on the left locks automatically when the steering is blocked. This same storage space is also equipped with a 12V socket (optional on the Yam ‘, standard but in the trunk on the Honda).
On the Tmax, a lock allows you to lock some personal effects in the deep right storage compartment. The left is much less useful: too flat, it can only accommodate a small phone or payment cards. However, we will avoid placing these precious objects inside this small compartment as its opening is difficult, so sudden….
Small note also about the mirrors: placed far in front and at the height of those of the cars, the mirrors of the Yamaha require more attention – at the beginning – than those of the BMW or the Honda. All offer good visibility and are vibration free.
The Integra, without integral or jet !
The Integra does little better than the Tmax in terms of storage: the Honda’s unique storage compartment cannot be locked and cannot act as a glove box, in the true sense of the term! That said, we deplore the lack of space under the saddle even more….
Impossible indeed to stay in the Integra even if only a small jet: the maxiscooter "NC700D" therefore does less well than its twin roadster NC700S and trail NC700X … A shame! Out of respect for the Honda staff – and for their helmets – MNC refrained from taking a picture of a full face blocking the "trunk" from closing..
To do as well as the Yamaha – which can store a helmet and other business – the Integra must imperatively have a top case. On the other hand, it will be impossible to match the performance of the BMW which, when stationary, can accommodate a second full-face helmet thanks to its clever Flex-case, a storage space in the form of a removable bellows comes close to the wheel. back.
So count 491 € of rab for the Honda top box of 40 liters and its necessary carrier and support. The 29-liter suitcases (348 €, and 122 € for the painted lids!) Will increase the carrying capacity but a second helmet will not be able to fit in and the scooter itself will have more difficulty in fitting. squeeze through lines of traffic jams !
The Tmax like clockwork
In terms of the dashboard too, the Integra is satisfied with the minimum: in addition to its basic appearance, "scooters" will have to be satisfied with the display of two daily trips, a fuel gauge, a clock, ‘a gear indicator engaged for "manual" mode and a barely readable tachometer.
The other two maxiscooters box in the category above on this subject: the counter of the C600 Sport in particular would not mismatch on a sports car! The handlebar control allows you to monitor average and instantaneous consumption or changes in the outside temperature.
The BMW "Highline" pack at 895 € (daytime running lights, heated saddles and handles, white LED indicators) offered by BMW and fitted as standard on the test model also includes the RDC system which continuously indicates the pressure of air in each tire.
With its two large analog meters, the Tmax resists the call of new technologies, which is probably not to displease bikers, real ones! Consequently, the numerous information distilled by the central dial (cf. Practical aspects on the penultimate page) appear too small….
When starting the engines, a first assessment can be drawn: the C 600 Sport is the best equipped but its weight makes it difficult to understand. The Tmax is not far behind in terms of practicality and even goes up to the level of the BMW thanks to its better finish and lighter weight. !
The Integra brings up the rear, mainly due to certain – too – basic equipment and clearly insufficient storage space which requires the assembly of a top case to face the city on a daily basis. But beware, the Honda bill then remains 2000 € lower and the verdict of the road could tip the comparo…
