1975 – GL1000 : launch of the first Goldwing, the GL1000: 999 cc liquid-cooled flat 4 cylinders. "New standards in terms of comfort and tourism", according to Honda.
1980 – GL1100 and GL1000 Intersate : increased displacement (1085 cc), longer wheelbase for improved stability and more room for rider and passenger. Launch of an "Intersate" version with full fairing, original cases and top-case.
1982/1983 – GL1100 Aspencade : discovery of the GL1100 Aspencade, a "luxury" version of the Goldwing, which includes a digital dashboard, a stereo audio system and an integrated pneumatic compressor.
1984/1985 – GL1200 and Limited Edition : increase in the displacement of the 4-cylinder to 1182 cc, redesigned chassis, appearance of the cruise control, an on-board computer, a new 4-speaker audio system, an electrically adjustable rear suspension and injection electronic.
1988 – GL1500 : Honda hits hard with a completely new Goldwing, now powered by a 1520 cc six-cylinder engine with reverse gear. The first manufacturer took the opportunity to revise the cycle part while taking care of comfort and protection.
2001 – GL1800 : It is about the last "major" evolution of the Goldwing which adopts from this vintage a 6-cylinder cubing 1832 cc and a double beam aluminum frame.
2007 : Launch of the 1800 Goldwing fitted with an airbag, the first – and to date the only – motorcycle fitted with an airbag.
2012 : Launch of a refined GL1800 Goldwing (fairings, aerodynamics, sound system and instrumentation). Return of manufacturing to the Kumamoto plant in Japan (previously USA).
