Suzuki Inazuma 250 test: a convincing mini roadster !

Suzuki in turn returns to the small-displacement niche with the Inazuma 250. If the competition already offers this displacement, it is through sports or trails. However, on the French motorcycle market, it is the roadster category that has dominated sales for years. !
This is undoubtedly one of the reasons that prompted Suzuki to – finally! – import this Inazuma 250. "Finally", because it’s been almost a year since Hamamatsu’s coat of arms unveiled this new bike (read our) !
Aesthetically, the link with the emblematic B-King is obvious, especially at the level of the optical unit, the large scoops integrating the indicators and its imposing front fender (perhaps a little too enveloping for some people).
The small parallel twin holds its place well, while not looking that small! The generous saddle leads to a rear also with a plush appearance, symmetrically embellished by two silencer of the most beautiful effect.
The rear of the bike confirms the good level of finish of the whole, with its tapered body which envelops the rear light and its aluminum passenger handle worthy of more prestigious machines. We still regret the too large indicators and the mud flap, as well as the unsightly welds on the top of the silencers.
Simple and complete
The 248 cc twin is a so-called "long stroke" engine, which means that the piston stroke is greater than the bore: 55.2 mm against 53.5 mm. These dimensions promise good flexibility as well as good consistency of performance. The power curve is also quite linear.
Stalled at 180 °, the unit is powered by an electronic injection as sophisticated as that of the GSR 750. A guarantee of good performance and a promise of reduced consumption, despite an engine speed that can exceed 10,000 rpm.
On the cycle side, the Inazuma 250 uses proven solutions. The single split-sub-cradle frame is made of steel and must account for much of the relatively heavy weight of 182 kg (all full) of the Inazuma 250. The aluminum rims are 110 mm wide at the front and 140 mm at the back. ‘back. Rather narrow dimensions, a guarantee of great agility.
The instrumentation is at the same time modern and complete, with an analog tachometer and a digital counter clearly visible. The unit incorporates a gear indicator engaged and a three-position shiftlight: disconnected, "Standard" and "Eco" (a mode where the warning light comes on earlier to encourage gears to be shifted into the ideal engine speed range. to contain the consumption). The data displayed is complete: hour, odometer, two trips, one gasoline gauge per bargraph and the service reminder.
The practical aspects have not been neglected: there is a tool kit under the saddle that contains the essentials, as well as a location that can store your U and rain pants. We just regret that the central stand is optional, especially on a city-oriented motorcycle and whose final transmission is via a chain…
