Compact, firm, vigorous: these adjectives define the little roadster just out of the MV Agusta factory. It is also in Varese that the Italian manufacturer invited us to test drive his Brutale 675, or B3 for close friends…. Test !

The price of the new Brutale 675 has largely contributed to the fuss about its release and also continues to fuel the "buzz". Announced in May 2011 on Site at € 8,990 (read), the B3 is actually available at this price … ex-factory !

"Indeed, French customers are not used to it unlike other countries such as Italy or Germany, but must be added to this sum the costs of packaging and transport to the concessionaire, as well as those of road", warn us – a little late – the Italians…

"Of course, these costs depend on the number of motorcycles ordered by the dealer, the distance to be covered and the manager’s commercial policy.", notes Claudio Rizzotto, head of the French market for the Varese brand. Price variations may also appear in the network….

For information only, our interlocutor indicates an additional cost between 300 and 500 euros. In the end, the Brutale 675 should therefore be displayed at around € 9,400. And the Italians to promise us to try to harmonize the price of their motorcycle on the whole of the territory soon…

A little over € 9,000…

Anyway, the Brutale 675 becomes the most affordable MV Agusta: 3,000 euros cheaper than a Brutale 920 – which did not find its audience in France – or its twin sister F3, and 5,000 euros less than a Brutale 1090R !

When detailing it on its assembly line, the little roadster has everything a big one: same sharp lines and oblong headlight, two-part frame (steel trellis and aluminum alloy side plates), beautiful swingarm, callipers Brembo radials, protruding and worked engine cases…

Approaching models ready to hit the road with us, however, we note some imperfections. The wiring is undoubtedly the biggest fault of this bike: the electric wires and terminals are not correctly guided and fixed..

On the left side of some Brutales, the large electric strand spoils all the work of the designers … And on most models, a white terminal and its green and yellow wires hang casually at the base of the swingarm: seen from behind , it looks a bit messy !

So owners will add to the cost of the bike – and its transportation, getting started, etc. – the purchase of insulating tape or riselan in order to properly camouflage the electrical harness. It will be more difficult to provide a better shelter for the fuses: they will remain housed under the left tube of the frame, in a box which is hoped to be waterproof. !

The only small attention from MV Agusta spotted by Site about the connections concerns the clutch control: a plastic cover effectively camouflages an ugly white pod. Like what all is not lost !

The B3 has almost everything of a great

In order to draw on the selling price, MV Agusta has chosen to fit its supersport roadster with more roadworthy compounds than those of its big Brutales: Pirelli Angels are fitted to the B3s. Knowing the quality of the sausage, this should however be sufficient for the "off-piste" use that MV Agusta offers us – and which will certainly be that of the majority of end customers (read).

Five MV Agusta novelties for 2013

"The next EICMA show in Milan will be an opportunity for us to unveil five new models at MV Agusta", dropped us the person in charge of the French network of MV Agusta! Among them, simple evolutions like perhaps the version R of the Brutale 675? A Supermotard of 800 cc is, him, awaited with firm foot. It would make an excellent one. base to go and tease the BMW GS or Triumph Tiger already aligned on this displacement … Business to follow on MNC !

Likewise, if the mudguard has a very sought-after cut, in the mold of the brand’s sports cars, it remains in raw plastic, just like the scoops of the airbox and the dashboard cover..

An "R" version (in the pipes, read our box opposite) will undoubtedly see these parts matched to the general color of the motorcycle. Or maybe they will be delivered in carbon? For a few euros more too, future owners of Brutale 675 R may also benefit from red cylinder heads. ?

The fully digital meter of the B3 was not to the taste of all journalists, one of them openly criticizing the Italians for wanting to save a little too much on this point. The Site’s opinion is much more positive: apart from the fuel gauge, no information is missing.

In addition, the two buttons located on the left stalk are very practical to use. Finally, the small external cutout of the cover proved to be very effective in limiting reflections as much as possible: all the information remained readable despite the bright sun which accompanied us during this entire test..

Finally, let’s finish this tour of the owner from the bottom of the motorcycle: invisible on the F3 thanks to the fairing, the vast silencing chamber of the exhaust pipe has something to make fans of the "motorcycle art" claimed by MV Agusta cringe..

However, the mere sight of the three small exits is enough to revise his judgment: the Italian 675 has a hell of a pot! Compared to those of the competition (certainly less expensive, see following pages), the "silencers" of the Brutale 675 are sublime..

The observation is confirmed when waking up the "little brute". With a simple kick of the starter, but on the condition of pulling the hard clutch lever towards you, the Triple Trepistoni releases the first bars of music that is both hoarse and melodious … On the way. !
