Among the 2010 novelties, the VFR 1200 is one of the most anticipated … While waiting for the automatic DCT version next summer, Site has tried the classic manual version. So, is the new VFR 1200 still the ideal bike? ? Test !
While waiting for the DCT this summer
Halfway between a very efficient but wearing sports car and a more comfortable but less efficient road, the VFR – the famous 750 F "RC24" at the origin – represented for many bikers the perfect compromise of "ideal motorcycle".
Thus for more than 20 years, the VFR remained – notably in France – the benchmark of the "Sport Touring" category. A market segment of which it is neither more nor less "originally"insists Honda, and that the world number one would like to revitalize with this new" Road Sport "model – yes, we must follow -.
Since its release in 1986, the legendary Honda had undergone two major changes: an increase in displacement to 800 cc in 1998 and the arrival of VTEC and combined braking systems (CBS with optional ABS) in 2002 … next year, while the 800 will remain in the catalog (read our), a third version of the VFR will land: the 1200 !
"This will be the 6th generation", realizes Sebastien Pernel, head of press relations at Honda Moto France:"a new model that perpetuates the VFR philosophy and represents Honda’s technological showcase". This is to say if the launch of this novelty 2010 is important for the world number one !
Unveiled as a concept in Tokyo last year and officially presented this year (for all technical aspects, read), the VFR 1200 will arrive in France in its F version (with classic manual transmission) in February 2010.
Because "sorry, but we will have to wait until the end of next spring to try and then buy the DCT version", warns Honda (read). While waiting to discover the automatic VFR 1200 – the revolutionary version and true showcase of Honda know-how? – let’s focus on testing the all new VFR 1200F in Andalusia, under a frank sun and on beautiful dry roads. ¡Vamos !
