All the Duels - ER-6f Vs XJ6F: the Japanese-style convertible - Two real little faces!

Like a convertible sofa bed, the ER-6f and the XJ6 Diversion F attempt a large gap between different uses for a reasonable cost. An ambitious positioning for these two little routsters who want to be both playful and practical. Duel !

Two real little faces !

Sheltered anyhow to try to escape a deluge whose intensity would probably have been enough to sink Noah’s Ark, the XJ6 Diversion F and the ER-6f take advantage of the rain to submit their friendly little faces to the ‘Inquisitor static exam "Made in MNC".

Whatever the place where the gaze stops, it is advisable to give back to Cesar what belongs to … Yamaha and Kawasaki: thus dressed with their fairings sculpted as close as possible to their petite silhouettes, the two motorcycles give off an undeniable sporty stamp that suits them to delight! The observation is particularly striking on the ER-6f: all in sharp angles on its front part, the Kawa directly brings back to the sporting range of the Greens.

A style effect largely assumed by Kawasaki, whose goal was to break with the somewhat sad lines of a model which suffers in addition to the overwhelming triumph of its predecessor, the ER-6n. Incisive and neat, the line of the Japanese twin takes advantage of the presence of parts with a neat look, like the mirrors and the brake fluid reservoir with worked shapes or the turn signals integrated in the fairings, the tiny lick-washer and LED rear light.

Despite a more sober general presentation and the use of less flashy fittings, the XJ6 Diversion F also benefits from its road conversion to give itself a rather sexy personality: nicely designed, its fairings follow its shapes with grace. and have an appreciable fit in this price range.

Common to the manufacturer’s FZ range with three tuning forks, the headlight is surrounded by air inlets which are reminiscent of the appendages used on the Suzuki GSX-Rs, while the minimalist windshield – smaller and narrower than that of the ER-6f – suggests perfectible protection…

Better finished than the Kawasaki – although a few unsightly lugs are lying around here and there, especially inside its fork crown – the Yam ‘also takes the ascendancy in terms of practicality: its half-analog dashboard , mid-digital is more readable and complete (in addition to the odometer, the tachometer, two trips, the hour and a fuel gauge, the Div ‘also provides information on the engine temperature), its more remote mirrors are showing more efficient and above all, it receives an appreciable central stand which explains its more pronounced weight gain than on Akashi’s "routster".

The Zak ‘has many spacing adjustments on its two levers (only the brake on the Yamaha), a more comfortable and practical seat and passenger handles, but this will not be enough against the XJ6 Diversion F which definitely confirms its advantage. by showing a larger space under the saddle and a reassuring coded key.

On the other hand, one like the other does not need storage compartments in the fork crown … while the necessary space is available! An annoying gap that contributes to cracking the road facade of these two re-dressed roadsters … In the saddle !
