Alex Rins (1st): "I beat Rossi in Austin, and I beat Marquez at Silverstone"

Analysis - Alex Rins (1st):

Winner of his first MotoGP race in Austin ahead of Valentino Rossi at the start of the 2019 season, Alex Rins had never beaten Marc Marquez on a regular basis. Suzuki rider # 42 did it yesterday at Silverstone, with the way… a Barry Sheene? Yes practically !

Alex Rins, Suzuki n ° 42 (5th in qualifying and 1st in race) : "This day was incredible. I won in Austin, beating Valentino (Rossi, you know, Editor’s note?). And now I’m winning here, beating Marc (Marquez, MotoGP boss, Editor’s note). These guys are very fast and are "legends" of the sport. I knew it would be hard to beat Marc today, but I really wanted to give it a try, and it was fantastic to do it. he was faster than me in some areas, but I was able to catch up on other sections. Towards the end of the race I felt I had a better pace than him and I thought I had to give it a try. I saw an opportunity and I succeeded. A big thank you to everyone on the team! "

MNC Analysis : At Site, the label of "Sunday pilot" is not pejorative, quite the contrary. Long worn by Valentino Rossi himself, it now sticks to Alex Rins’ leather. Qualified to a solid – or simple ?! – fifth place on Saturday, the Suzuki driver n ° 42 delivered an exemplary race on Sunday against the current best driver, Marc Marquez.

In top form, the No. 93 Honda is said to be unbeatable. A fortnight ago at the Red Bull Ring, Andrea Dovizioso nevertheless demonstrated that it was possible to defeat the red ant! -, provided you have an excellent bike and a big dose of composure.

Analysis - Alex Rins (1st):

Seeing the Suzuki being left behind at each exit of a turn and then left behind in the stretches despite the suction phenomenon, Alex Rins’ mission seemed impossible at the start of the race. But it was counting without the confounding speed of the GSX-RR in the middle of the curve and without its astounding endurance….

By gluing invariably in the winding portions, the vice-champion of Moto3 (in 2013, year of Marquez’s first MotoGP coronation!) And of Moto2 (in 2015, year of the Rossi-Marquez clash) remained in the game until the end . But it was limited !

One lap before the end, Alex almost gave up the gas, thinking the race was already over! However, the result would not have changed: forced off the track following his attack on the outside in the last corner – in an incredible "remake" of the Roberts Vs Sheene duel of 1979 – the Suzuki rider was then ahead of his compatriot by a thousandth of a second on the finish line !

Analysis - Alex Rins (1st):

Rins did not give up but changed his method: one lap later – the last of the ders! -, Alex subtly maneuvered to come out of the final curve both stronger and more inside … As Marc’s RCV slid from front to back, the GSX-RR is irresistibly passed, winning by 13 thousandths of a second, the fourth shortest victory in Grand Prix history.

At the start of the season in Austin, Rins had already hung the famous No. 46 on his hunting chart. Yesterday he managed to get the boss of the Intercontinental Circus down at Silverstone, one of the most complete and grueling tracks on the motorcycle Grand Prix calendar. Bravissimo !
