Argentinian GP MotoGP – Baz: "Avoiding Lorenzo made me waste a lot of time"
Loris Baz leaves Argentina both satisfied and disappointed: satisfied to have achieved his best qualification in MotoGP (9th on the grid), but disappointed not to have turned the test into a race (11th). The Haute-Savoie, however, plans to do better in Austin where he says he felt comfortable last year, despite a modest 15th place at the finish. Statements and Analysis.
Loris Baz, Ducati Avintia (9th in qualifying and 11th in race): "I’m disappointed, because there was the possibility of a good result. I missed my start slightly but managed to position myself correctly at the first corner. Lorenzo fell on my line and I had to Avoiding it. This maneuver wasted a lot of time. I put a lot of strain on my tires to get back up. I also lost almost ten seconds passing the drivers in front of me. to follow in the wake of Jack (Miller, Editor’s note) and Karel (Abraham, Editor’s note). I was not able to overtake them, because Karel was losing a little oil and given the state of my tires, it was tricky. Analyzing the gap that separated me from the Top 5, I remain disappointed. Despite everything, we draw a positive result. We have a very good pace and I am convinced that a place in the top six was possible. It will be necessary to repeat in Austin while avoiding the same pitfalls ".
"I don’t set myself any specific goal other than having fun riding the bike. That’s what I did this weekend and I think it worked. We continue to improve. We still have a few details to work on, especially regarding the grip at the rear. In Austin last season, I felt comfortable all weekend. The bike is performing very well on this track and I I am convinced that we will be able to obtain a good result there ".

Site analysis: Despite an excellent ride in his Desmosedici GP15 – whose progress he praised in Argentina – Loris had to be content with 11th place … but there were plenty of reasons for satisfaction when leaving Termas de Rio Hondo for Austin ( United States): the Haut-Savoyard achieved the best MotoGP qualifying of his entire career and finished ahead of his teammate Hector Barbera (13th).
He was also unlucky at the start when, from the first corner, came to cross his path, forcing him to go through the clearances to avoid it … The Haut-Savoyard therefore had to hit his tires more to go up to 11th place, just a tenth of the Top 10.
