First Grand Prix victory for Max Biaggi’s Moto3 team
The Max Racing Team, created and led by Max Biaggi, achieved their first victory in the World Grand Prix Championship at the GP of the Americas 2019, thanks to the smooth race of its driver Aron Canet on his KTM. MNC takes stock of the new "march" of the Roman Emperor…
At 47 years old, Max Biaggi is a busy man: the former driver – briefly crossed by MNC during our – wears the cap of, prepares a world speed record on the and shares his immense experience with young hopefuls via its Max Racing Team structure.
- MNC of August 6, 2018 : Max Biaggi drives for the Aprilia brand
- MNC of April 5, 2019 : Max Biaggi on the Wattman electric Voxan in 2020
- MNC test : RSV4 1100 Factory, high volume operation at Aprilia !
This team, of which he is the owner, has experienced a meteoric progression in three years: Biaggi was originally in the framework of the Italian speed championship (CIV), before sharpening in the very tough Spanish championship ( CEV) then to take his first steps this year at world level in Moto3.
Objective: to pass on his knowledge to promising young pilots and to offer them an efficient environment thanks to his ability to attract and forge partnerships. The Max Racing Team is therefore sponsored by Sterilgarda, with whom Biaggi has maintained excellent relations since riding a Ducati in the colors of the Italian food group..
Still in Rossi’s aspi ‘ !
Another proof of the positive effects of the notoriety of a champion of this caliber: the presence of Prince Albert II (on the left below), invited as Biaggi’s "neighbor" on the Monegasque rock during the official presentation of the team organized in Monaco this winter.
The team managed by Peter Oettl – right above – directly follows the VR46 Academy lead of Valentino Rossi, the former rival against whom Biaggi failed to win the Grail in MotoGP … The struggle continues between the two Italian stars, but this time through their respective structure: "it’s a bit like what Rossi does", admits the n ° 3.
The 2019 season started off pretty well for this new team and its driver Aron Canet, with a third place in Qatar in the opening race. The 19-year-old Spaniard then passed the Argentinian GP (12th), before bouncing back beautifully at the GP of the Americas: Canet won with 0.909 sec ahead of Jaume Massia at the end of a smart race.
The continuation of the "March of the Emperor" !
“Winning for the first time as a team owner, after being on the podium for years as a driver, it’s very exciting: it’s new life in this sport that has given me so much "enthuses the famous boss of the Max Racing Team.
"A lot of people have helped me in my career and now I will be able to help Aron to express his talent after a difficult year. It’s a feeling that is priceless!", Develops Max Biaggi with reference to the sawtooth career of his protege.
- MNC special file :
Aron Canet has effectively alternated between good and bad since his debut in 2016: 15th for his first season on a Honda Moto3, the native of Corbera propelled himself to third place the following year thanks to three victories! Considered a logical title contender in 2018, Canet missed the boat and finished 6th.
New team, new bike (KTM) and new ambitions: 2019 marks Canet’s return to his highest level, he who had not won since the British GP 2017. A performance to be attributed to the supervision of his boss Max Biaggi ?
"We are only at the beginning of this adventure and we must still continue to work hard", tempers the Emperor, aware of the risks of motorcycle sport. Because Canet, today at the top, can easily lose track in this ultra competitive category that is Moto3.
The Max Racing Team in the lead in the provisional
The team of Max Biaggi occupies while waiting for the head of the provisional Moto3 classification, tied with Jaume Masia (45 points). The two KTM drivers are thirteen lengths ahead of the Honda’s Lorenzo Dalla Porta and Niccolo Antonelli, also neck and neck (32 points each) !

And what about Team VR46 riders, Celestino Vietti and Dennis Foggia? The Doctor’s two Italian proteges occupy 11th and 13th positions respectively after three races contested on their KTM: advantage for the Biaggi structure, therefore ?!
No, because the comparison is distorted by the difference in experience: Aron Canet already has three seasons in Moto3 while the very young Vietti (17) is discovering the Grands Prix. Foggia, barely older (18 years), for his part is attacking his second full campaign: the Biaggi driver is almost an "old man" next to Rossi’s representatives !
