GP of the Netherlands 2018 – Rins (2nd): "It was the most difficult race of my life but I learned a lot"
Alex Rins gets his best MotoGP result with a splendid second place snatched from Viñales in the last chicane of the Assen circuit. The young Suzuki rider takes his second podium of the season at this hotly contested GP of the Netherlands 2018. Statements and analysis MNC.
Alex Rins, Suzuki-Ecstar (5th in qualifying and 2nd in race) : "This morning I felt really sick, I had stomach problems, but the doctors at Clinique mobile gave me medicine and the pain eased. So I have to thank them, because when I started to feel better I said to myself "Wow, this will be my race!".

"It was a fantastic battle, the hardest race of my life, but I learned a lot. Our pace was good and I was able to enjoy it! There were a lot of overtaking, but I was still trying to attack to stay ahead and defend my place. I feel very good on my bike and with my team: we all want to improve and win ".
“We’ve had a very competitive bike from Qatar, but we’ve been able to change a few aspects to get more power and better performance. I hope I can stay on top for the next races. I’m confident for the Sachsenring. ".
Site analysis : Alex Rins may well be the youngest in MotoGP at 22 – against 39 for Dean Rossi, 17 years apart! -, its speed on the Suzuki does not fail to impress. In the Netherlands, the young Barcelona player also showed admirable pugnacity by elbowing for 26 laps with the cracks !
The n ° 42 gave blow for blow to the best pilots of the premier category, even if it means failing to send the defending champion to the mat. His sense of strategy is also to be applauded as he recovered second place on the very last lap, after having unstoppably passed Viñales who had closed the door badly in the final chicane. Fast and responsive !

Alex Rins gives Assen his best result in MotoGP and his second podium of the season after his third place in. Too bad his inconstancy prejudices him in the provisional: despite his two podiums, the fiery Spanish is in 11th place because of his falls at, at, at and in. That is four white results in eight races…
The n ° 42 thus finds itself between the Ducati Pramac of Jack Miller and … Dani Pedrosa, only 12th in the provisional classification on his official Honda.
Evolutions on Suzuki at Assen
The Suzuki released in the Netherlands an evolution on the 4-cylinder of the GSX-RR, which the test pilot Sylvain Guintoli had cleared in Catalonia. This engine announced "a little more powerful" was also accompanied by a new carbon reinforced chassis (like the Ducati).
All these novelties were not particularly successful for Andrea Iannone, who finished 11th at 14.255 seconds after struggling the entire race against a concern for rear grip and movements on his bike. The Italian, future Aprilia rider in 2019, also received a penalty of 2 seconds for having exceeded the limits of the circuit.
