GP of the Netherlands 2018 – Zarco (8th): "I found this feeling that I had lost"
Johann Zarco finishes the Dutch GP with the satisfaction of having found a better feeling on his Yamaha Tech3 after several difficult races. The French would have liked to transform this progression with a return to the Top 5, but must be satisfied with the 8th position behind the "wild group" … Declarations and analysis MNC.
Johann Zarco (8th in qualifying and 8th in race) : "Sunday was a good day. I had identified a few things during the warm-up and I told the team that it was going to be difficult to fight in front, that we still had to make progress to be able to brake well. and stay with the leading group. I think we have achieved this step and it is a good thing ".

"The start was good, then Iannone passed Rins who started wide … But anyway, it’s complicated to gain places at the start. I felt comfortable and I passed Petrucci to come back on Crutchlow. Then I stayed with a fantastic group and it was going strong! I stayed in contact with them, but it was not enough to fight with them ".
"Seven laps from the finish the bike started to slip and I couldn’t keep up the pace. My dreams of a Top 5 then went away … maybe it was the extra step that was missing for the podium, but I had a real pleasure and felt again that feeling that I had lost. We are fourth in the championship and overall the race was fun. ".
Site analysis : Johann Zarco gives a positive assessment of his 2018 Dutch Grand Prix, despite an eighth position – 7 seconds behind the winner – quite far from his usual level. The French rider, a little lost on his M1 for a few races, is especially relieved to have found his marks on his Yamaha.
However, this regained ease did not allow him to go and titillate the cracks as he had become accustomed to: Johann finished 2.6 seconds behind Lorenzo, the last pilot of this "wild group" that he followed without be able to fit into it. Access to the Top 5 is still denied to the Tech3 driver, absent from the podium since his .
There remains the satisfaction of being the first private rider to arrive, considering Crutchlow’s Honda LCR as a factory motorcycle due to its official support from the HRC. A good performance for a satellite rider as the mid-season mark approaches, which generally marks the rise of official motorcycles.
Johann Zarco also retains fourth place in the 2018 MotoGP provisional classification, 12 points behind Viñales and 59 behind Marquez. A great source of satisfaction for the future KTM rider !
