Indisputable supremacy of SERT after 15 hours of racing
Sunday morning, 15 hours after the start, the two SERT Suzuki, separated by four laps, still dominate the 72nd Bol d’Or head and shoulders ahead of Yamaha Austria n ° 7 and GMT n ° 94. 6th, the n ° 60 Honda had a superb race.
But Dominique Meliand, faithful to his habit, "stay vigilant"because the weather conditions are delicate and the adversaries"well present"(see our video interview opposite).
At 4:50 am, the Yamaha n ° 94 in the hands of Steve Plater, then fourth at 13 seconds behind the Yamaha n ° 7 of Austria Racing, fell and returned to the pits to repair the handlebars, fairing and footrest in 6 minutes flat.
But for Christophe Guyot, no regrets because the objective was to go back up with the Suzuki n ° 2 in sight, so it is the game … The GMT Yamaha therefore resumes the race shortly before dawn in 4th position 10 laps behind the leader, with the firm intention of recovering at least the third step of the podium.
Honda n ° 60 side, the two flagship drivers of the team Motorcycle Review, Sebastien Charpentier and Jean-Michel Bayle, have decided with the team manager Bernard Rigoni to double their stints (going from 1h to 2.15am on the track!) To let Thierry Traccan rest. Honda’s strategy, still sixth scratch and first Superstock, will now be to manage the gap with the # 95 Suzuki of Qatar Endurance, currently in tenth position at four laps (2nd Superstock).
The # 11 Kawasaki, which was racing at the forefront until midnight, dropped to 8th place 15 laps behind the leader after experiencing three crashes and a lighting problem.
Disappointment also for the Suzuki n ° 72 of the Junior Team, leading the Superstocks since the start of the race, which is 12th at 20 laps following a crash shortly before midnight.
Finally in the Open, the Bihr Metiss in 16th position is fighting with the BMW n ° 17.
