Out of the ordinary, the Ninja H2 cannot participate in the World Superbike or MotoGP motorcycle speed championships. But the Kawasaki shines in other areas, such as design where it has just won two prestigious awards: at the iF Design and Plus X Award.

Established in 1953, the main purpose of the International Design Forum (iF) is to "emphasize the importance of design to brands, users and society." To do this, it awards prizes each year to the best products, concepts or services..

In 2016, this prestigious competition – which has 67 categories – attracted 5,295 applications from 53 countries. Kawasaki, for example, showed up with its wacky Ninja H2 and clinched an award. In the "Vehicles" category, the Korean manufacturer Hyundai also stood out with its Tucson.

While browsing the colossal online archives of the iF, Site also noticed that the Yamaha Motor Company had received the same award in 2014 for its MT-09 and in 2015 for its MT-07 … as well as for its JWX-2, an electric wheelchair !

But this year, it is indeed the Akashi firm which is rewarded and the principal director of the department "Design and Aesthetics" of Kawasaki Heavy Industry Ltd, Mr. Keishi Fukumoto, does not hide his joy at the idea of receive this award (the ceremony will take place on February 26 … in Munich!).

“It is a great honor to win the globally recognized iF Design award. We are very proud of this star bike and what it means to Kawasaki,” said Fukumoto San: “We really think the Ninja H2 has changed the motorcycle landscape forever and it is understandable that we are happy that this prestigious award endorses an overall image of excellence ".

Supercharged, the Ninja H2 – and its R version yet dedicated to the track – are de facto excluded from prestigious motorcycle speed races such as MotoGP or World Superbike. But that does not prevent him from – and even encourages him to – take part in other types of competitions….

Besides the iF Design, the Kawasaki also distinguished itself at the "Plus X Awards" by winning the title of "Best Product 2015/2016". Two years before the "H2 of the new millennium", the Z1000 and its big bad look had already caught the eye of the jury. Too strong, the little green men !
