The Quadro4 4-wheel scooter becomes Qooder and becomes electrified
Quadro renames its spectacular four-wheeled scooter "Qooder" to distinguish it from its Quadro3 3-wheel range. The Italian company based in Switzerland also unveils a new E-Qooder powered by an electric motor.
Things are moving at Quadro: after opening its end of 2016 and seriously lowering its prices, the brand created in 2010 by Luciano Marabese unveils a new strategy at the Geneva Motor Show (Switzerland). First change: the 4-wheel scooter – accessible to license B – becomes "Qooder".
- MNC of September 2, 2016 : Quadro opens a French subsidiary
- Quadro4 trial :
"This name makes it possible to better distinguish the two models of the Swiss brand", estimates Quadro: "the first, a 3-wheel scooter with a single HTS (Hydraulic Tilting System, the tilting front axle system like Quadro, Editor’s note), the second equipped with 4-wheelers and two HTS systems intended to open up to motorists who have not yet taken the plunge ".
This new name is accompanied by a redesigned design on the front of this original scooter launched in 2015, one of the strengths of which is its formidable stability. To date, no manufacturer has joined Quadro on this hybrid path between car and scooter (a "scooter"?!), Which Quadro CEO Paolo Gagliardo describes as "an" unprecedented way of responding to most mobility problems everyday life and the stress of transport ".
The 2018 Qooder also releases mechanical evolutions which significantly boost its performance: the torque of its 398.8 cc single cylinder goes from 24.5 to 38.5 Nm and its power increases slightly (32.4 hp). In view of the high weight of the machine (281 kg fully loaded), these improvements will be appreciated during the reminders.
E-Quooder: this is not the "vegan" version of thermal !
Another new direction taken by Quadro: electric propulsion, explored by the brand through its new 4-wheel electric scooter E-Quooder. This novelty 2018 – which combines originalities! – takes the technical basis of the thermal Qooder, but trades its single cylinder for a 46 hp electric motor.
The announced torque is "106 Nm", which is much better performance than the gasoline model: "E-Qooder should not be seen as a" vegan "and wise version of the thermal Qooder", laughs Paolo Gagliardo who believes that his electric "scooter" is "just as safe, but much more vigorous while being clean".
The autonomy would oscillate "between 130 and 260 km", estimates the manufacturer without giving more information on the type of battery used – probably lithium-ion – nor on the time necessary to recharge it. The price of this E-Qooder – like the new thermal Qooder – is also one of the aspects on which Quadro remains discreet.
For the record, the old Quadro4 had been repositioned at € 9,990 after being launched in 2015 at the prohibitive price of € 12,490. Quadro will undoubtedly carefully calibrate its offer for 2018, in order to continue its quest for market share against the juggernaut of the sector: its Italian rival Piaggio, which sold 5,045 MP3s against only 452 Quadro…
