Van Beveren broken down on his Yamaha…

The other great sensation is unfortunately a disillusion: that of seeing Adrien van Beveren stopped just 16 km from the finish of the 9th stage, victim of a breakdown on his official Yamaha WRF … The northerner rider – 4th overall the day before – thus loses all chances of winning or even getting on the final podium.

The official Yamaha team evokes a "minor technical problem" to justify this setback, probably caused by a simple lack of gasoline. With his head in his hands next to his motorbike, Adrien seems struck down: how not to be after having traveled about 5,180 km to finally fail less than 500 km from the final finish ?

Van Beveren – announced as withdrawn from the race – would have finally managed to reach the finish line late in the evening: he would have classified himself in the 70th place of the stage, thus passing to the 14th position overall. However, his situation needs to be clarified because the organizer announces his possible exclusion "for having covered the last kilometers of the special in a pick-up"…
