The MotoGP world championship, particularly open due to and the rise of the young wolves of the discipline, continues this weekend on the same circuit, just a throw away from Valentino Rossi.

  • MNC special file : Everything you need to know about the 2020 Emilia-Romagna GP

Barely ousted from the podium in front of his fans on Sunday, the Doctor will be keen to show if it was needed that he is still … But Andrea Dovizioso, leading the championship thanks to his – and to the -, could well try to shine at home too.

Misano, revenge

Without forgetting the young wolves with long teeth like Franco Morbidelli, author of his Sunday, Pecco Bagnaia second, the impressive Joan Mir third on the official Suzuki, nor of course Fabio Quartararo who will undoubtedly have found the serenity necessary to reconnect with his impressive start of the season (winner in quick succession in and in) !

Still on the French side, Johann Zarco will try to improve his position – with why not a top 10, see more if affinities ?! to consolidate its chances of – while the four KTMs on the grid will undoubtedly continue their good start to the season which already has two victories (and S) and the excellent start to the race of .

In short, so many unknowns that will gradually become clearer, with first the objectives of the pilots in a few days below and especially the race weekend to be fully followed on MNC !

Statements and Objectives

Maverick Viñales, official Yamaha n ° 12

“My was really positive. I was quick with the medium rear tire and the soft rear tire so we will definitely be trying those tire options again over the weekend. We tried some new parts for the bike and I felt really comfortable. I was doing good lap times without having to push hard so that’s positive. However, we weren’t able to test these new features under the same circumstances as the race, with Moto2 traces on the track. We’ll see but in any case I’ll give myself 100% to try to start ahead and have the best chance of having a good race ".

Valentino Rossi, official Yamaha n ° 46

"I’m happy to have another race here in Misano. Last week I was close to the podium, the race was just one lap too many … We did a lot of laps yesterday during the test and we found who can maybe help us this weekend. I want to fight for the podium again, but the level is very high and the championship is very close … We will do our best! "

Takaaki Nakagami, Honda LCR n ° 30

"So this is the second race in a row at Misano and I have a very positive feeling for this weekend. Normally, with consecutive races, we are able to make a lot of progress between the first and the second race, and plus Tuesday we had a one day test. I can’t wait to ride because we struggled last weekend, but during the race I had a pretty good feeling on the bike. keep working hard to develop the bike and Friday will be crucial because if we can get a good start, we can fight for the podium on Sunday. So we will try to focus and stay positive. ".

Joan Mir, official Suzuki rider n ° 36

"Last weekend I was able to get on the podium after a good fight with many drivers. Despite a bad starting position and a bit of difficulty in the first laps, I had a very good pace towards the end with worn tires. During the test on Tuesday, we looked for solutions to help me in my qualifying and also to be better on new tires. We don’t know yet if we found the answers, but I felt very good and fast on the bike. I am delighted to be part of another race weekend ".

Alex Rins, official Suzuki rider n ° 42

"My arm has been better since last Sunday and I can’t wait to get back on the track and have another intense weekend. During the last GP I had good speed and a good feeling with the bike, but my problem with arms bothered me a little. I hope this weekend I can fight for the podium during the whole race and bring back a good result ".

Massimo Meregalli, official Yamaha team director

“After one, we are ready to resume racing. This test between the two races is handy for us, as it gives us more time to work on some of the concerns we had last Sunday. During yesterday’s session , Maverick fixed his problem with the medium tire. This could be decisive for Sunday’s race. As for Valentino, he was very close to the podium last weekend. Missing his home race on the last lap is really painful so for sure we will do everything to get him on the podium on Sunday. He found improvements for his bike in the Misano test so we can’t wait to see if he can again fight for the top spots this weekend ".

Herve Poncharal, Tech3 KTM team manager

"This is the third time that we’ve been riding the same circuit twice in a row this year and as usual it will be very interesting to see what we can improve on the bike. The weather seems pretty stable so we don’t not foresee a huge difference. But having so much time to work here should make this weekend even better. We were very happy with the race pace of Miguel and Iker. Our weak point was just the fast lap for qualifying to ‘get a better position on the grid, as I have said several times this season. The twisty section just after the start makes overtaking difficult, so you need to qualify better. I think the settings for the race will not be very different from last weekend. We also had the chance to test a few stuff on Tuesday with Miguel, nothing fancy but hopefully that will help us close the gap. Obviously it will be more better x understand the bike and try to polish it. We weren’t too far from the outposts and everyone is very close to each other anyway. We were 12 seconds behind the leader last Sunday, six of which were lost in the opening laps. It shows what we need to work on. Iker did not participate in the tests because he does not have enough experience to compare the small developments. He therefore chose to work with his team on the race data and to rest in order to be fully recharged for Friday morning. We are very happy with the way he is working and I think he can make some progress this weekend as well. ".

Davide Brivio, official Suzuki team manager

“Back-to-back races can be difficult but also very useful. We are happy to stay here in Misano for another weekend as the results we achieved last Sunday were very positive. The team and the drivers worked on Tuesday not only to test parts, but also to refine the bikes on this circuit. It will be interesting to see the result. Of course, this will undoubtedly be another very competitive weekend with a lot of contenders, but we feel ready for that. ".

To be continued on MNC: stay connected !
