Worthy heir to the good old call of lighthouses in these times of security repression, the real-time radar warning device from Coyote System is now available in a version usable on two-wheelers: the Coyote Rider. Presentation.

A community system

Founded in 2005, the Coyote System company develops Coyote, a geo-localized information device for communicating real-time information on traffic and the location of speed cameras. Thanks to GPS, GPRS and GSM technologies, the system is permanently linked to a central server and allows each user to report in real time the presence of fixed and mobile speed cameras or a slowdown in traffic to all other members. of the Coyote community, by pressing a button on the box when passing through a "dangerous" area. All while fully respecting the law, unlike a radar detector. Requiring a subscription – for sending and receiving information via GSM networks -, the Coyote system has already attracted more than 150,000 members since its marketing.

At the origin of the creation of the Coyote in June 2005 (see box opposite), a somewhat distressing observation: with the proliferation of fixed and mobile radars on French roads, highways, towns and even villages, no driver is is now safe from a withdrawal of points, or even – to say the least – a license suspension and a passage through the prison box…

However, if there is no doubt that the hunt for excessive speeding is based on good intentions – especially in built-up areas – the exhausting hunt led by the police and their annoying propensity to "prune" in turn of arm overruns of the order of one kilometer / hour leaves much more circumspection on the real objectives and the results in terms of accidentology…

Under these conditions, and given that in the event of a roadside check, fewer and fewer drivers deign to warn their fellow human beings, the Coyote company had the idea of modernizing "the lighthouse call", this outpouring of solidarity – often saving ! – which once united road users: a clever little box warns legally and in real time of a repressive presence on the route taken !

Initially reserved for motorists due to its format and its inability to attach it to a two-wheeler, the device – a GPS unit capable of sending and receiving all the "at risk" points reported by some 150,000 users of Coyote across France – is now available in a version called Coyote Rider, intended for bikers and "scooters".

In the form of an elegant casing surrounded by chrome, the Coyote Rider incorporates all the advantages that made the success of the previous model, less traffic information: thanks to its constant link with a central processing all the data sent by the members, the system warns of the proximity of mobile speed cameras declared in the last hour, while the base of fixed speed cameras of the Coyote Rider is continuously updated automatically.

Little more of the device: to accentuate the "community" effect, the Coyote Rider uses the "Coyote Eclaireur" function which indicates the number of users passed at the same place in the last half hour, but also the distance between you. another user of the system: nice and above all practical for judging the quality of the information concerning your route! And to adapt to the specific needs of two-wheeler users, Coyote System called on the French company Xtream Wearther and its very practical "So Easy Rider" motorcycle GPS kit (read our).

Attached to the handlebars of a two-wheeler or on the driver’s forearm, the So Easy Rider / Coyote Rider association will allow you to view and hear alerts, while sending your "hot spots" to other users by simply pressing a button that transmits your details to the central.

Covering 30 countries, the Coyote Rider has been available since June 15 for € 349 (one year subscription included). Mini Coyote owners will have the opportunity to acquire a Coyote Rider Kit – the specific covers and earbuds – from July 2009 at the price of 59 € incl. .
