Opposed to the "dogmatic implementation of pollution control plans in Paris and in the other large cities of France", the FFMC and the FFM recall that within the framework of the law relating to energy transition for green growth adopted last August 17, the municipalities can set up "restricted traffic zones".
While Paris wants to integrate motorized two-wheelers into the restriction device in the same way as cars (read), "banning motorized two-wheelers in town is nonsense given the low share of the latter in pollution urban atmosphere and given that this mode of transport contributes to the fluidity of traffic and the optimization of the urban space dedicated to parking ", recall for the 9478th time (approximately) the FFMC and the FFM, stressing that this observation is "shared by the European Parliament which recently recalled the interest of motorcycles and scooters for the establishment of sustainable mobility" (read).
"Air pollution has been obscured for many years by the public authorities. Today they cannot want to catch up by disproportionately restricting the freedoms of users", continue the two organizations for the defense of bikers and motorcycles: "For road traffic, notable progress has already been made thanks to the development of anti-pollution standards, allowing the natural renewal of the vehicle fleet to have a very positive effect on air quality".
Finally, "the need for mobility of people cannot be sacrificed without an upstream reflection on the economic and social organization of the territories", underline the FFMC and the FFM: "the establishment of restricted traffic zones, based on the year of entry into service of vehicles, discriminates against the lowest incomes who will not be able to afford a new vehicle when they have a vital need to move ".
