FIM withdraws international license from Romano Fenati

The Italian driver was immediately sanctioned with a black flag, then excluded for the next two races. Fenati, accompanied by his legal representative, appeared before FIM President Vito Ippolito and Richard Perret, Deputy General Manager and Legal Director.

The FIM leaders wanted to make Fenati understand "the importance that sport brings to fair play and above all to the safety of its drivers". Aware of the fact that top-level pilots are under great pressure – "on and off the track", specifies the Federation -, Ippolito and Perret nevertheless insisted on "the influence they had on the fans and young people".
FIM representatives therefore reminded Fenati "of his responsibility to set a good example in the future", before withdrawing his license "until the end of the year". The transalpine, treated by some as a real murderer but, will be able to apply for a license in 2019, which will be – or not – granted "subject to the conditions set out in the regulations", cautiously indicates the FIM…
