MotoGP - Hayden extends HRC contract for two years -

Nicky Hayden has just extended his contract with the HRC in MotoGP for two years. The official Honda rider, currently leader of the championship, considers it an "honor" which is bestowed upon him and that he "could not have asked for better".

"We couldn’t ask for more so I’m really happy"Nicky Hayden said after the official statement from the HRC announcing that the American rider was renewed for two years in the official Honda team:"it’s an honor to be part of the HRC factory team for two more years in MotoGP".

"Everything went well and I’m happy with this deal. I feel like I’ve taken a big step forward this year and I believe I’m still climbing the learning ladder so I don’t want to change anything !", explains Hayden, who entered the HRC in 2003 as a teammate of a certain … Valentino Rossi, whom he currently distances from 21 points in the championship..

"Nicky spent four seasons with us, during which he evolved and made steady progress", says Tsutomu Ishii, the director general of the HRC..

Two days before the Japanese Grand Prix which promises to be fiercely contested on the Honda circuit in Motegi (read), the announcement will undoubtedly allow the Kentucky Kid to ride on Sunday with one less worry about his future !

And if the American knows that he will ride again in 2007 alongside his teammate Dani Pedrosa, with whom he has "established a good relationship of camaraderie"according to Tsutomu Ishii -"as MotoGP enters a new era with the 800 cc, it is important for the Repsol Honda team to keep its stability, not only with the riders but also with the sponsors and partners", considers the big boss of the HRC -, the two HRC riders still do not know anything about their future Honda 800 cc next year, on which they will ride Monday for the first time…
