MotoGP - The 2009 MotoGP season ends on Sunday! - The last of ders for ...

This year again, the Valencia GP serves as the final bouquet: admittedly Rossi already has his ninth world title in his pocket, but the atmosphere should still be warm on Sunday, as there are many contenders for the coup d ‘brilliance. ! Trailer.

The last of ders for…

Naturally, this weekend maybe a little more than the 16 others this year, all the other pilots of the field will surpass themselves in order to steal the show from the fantastic four which are Rossi, Lorenzo, Stoner and Pedrosa..

We think in particular of four riders who are about to pack their bags: towards the World Superbike for Chris Vermeulen and James Toseland, towards the unknown for Toni Elias and Alex De Angelis !

Runners and non-runners

After four seasons spent trying to get the official Suzuki team’s GSV-R to work – or "ride to victory and title", Chris Vermeulen will try for the next two years to run the factory ZX-10R entered by the Paul Bird’s team in the SBK World Cup.

"This will be my last MotoGP race – at least for the next two seasons –", notes Vermeulen,"and i will make sure to be proud of it". Winner of a Grand Prix (in 2007 at Le Mans), the Australian hopes to climb on a MotoGP podium for the 8th time this Sunday….

"I know it will be hard but this is my goal and I would really like to achieve it", admits the colt of the great Barry Sheene, of which he wears the distinctive n ° 7, the one with the bar. Chris is currently in 11th place in the provisional (with 105 points) but is only three lengths of the 7th place occupied by the courageous Marco Melandri.

The only driver to have scored points at each meeting in 2009, Chris Vermeulen could, if he does well, finish ahead of his teammate Loris Capirossi, 8th on equal points with Marco! But the Australian will not be the only one to aim for this 7th final place: in addition to our national De Puniet (12th with 101 points), the two riders of the Honda Gresini team also covet the place of Melandri….

Indeed, the counters of Alex de Angelis and Toni Elias both show 105 points! Before giving way to the two Marco – Melandri and Simoncelli – in 2010, the two men will therefore try to draw attention to them, in order to find a handlebar next year..

But the task promises to be difficult: the two Honda riders admit that Valencia is not the ideal layout for their machines. And everyone has their own little comment…

Alex worries about the insufficient agility of his machine in slow sections while Toni talks about a lack of traction. They will therefore have to surpass themselves to interfere with the outposts. Small advantage perhaps for Toni Elias: "I hope my knowledge of the circuit and the support of the public can help us".

Finally, like Vermeulen, James Toseland will set off next year to compete in the World Superbike Championship. Titled twice in this discipline – on Ducati in 2004 and on Honda in 2007 – the Englishman left the Continental Circus without being on the podium once….

The exchange of chief engineer last winter within the Tech3 team did not resolve the situation: "DjiTi" remained much slower than his teammate Colin Edwards – who is still chasing a first victory in GP but is fighting against Dovizioso for a nice 5th place overall – and that should be verified one last time this weekend.

James is in 14th place in the standings and is 5 points behind Nicky Hayden, the only rider from the planet Superbike to have known glory in MotoGP! More fit than the Englishman lately and a big fan of the Valence tourniquet, Nicky should therefore keep his 13th place, all in all disappointing … Could it be that the n ° 69 is the pleasant surprise of Sunday ?
