MV Agusta: Zagato concept and Ago TT preparation
In financial trouble, MV Agusta wants to bounce back by focusing on ” super premium ”. A partnership with the bodybuilder Zagato is a track mentioned by the manufacturer. Neo-retro is another, explored by preparer Deus Ex Machina.
MV Agusta explores new avenues…
Brilliant in, the future of MV Agusta suddenly appeared and still has not been cleared: behind the scenes, the CEO of the brand is still looking to buy the shares of AMG and find a new partner in order to reorient his production towards the very high end (read our).
On the stage side of course, the small brand of Varese remains active … On social networks, MV Agusta has just announced that it is exploring new horizons and makes an appointment on September 4 to discover a new motorcycle….
On the "Save the date" cardboard is sketched the silhouette of a futuristic machine stamped with a "Z" which means "Zagato". This Milanese coachbuilder is well known to aficionados of Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Fiat, Maserati Ferrari, or Aston Martin cars (look for the intruder).
MV Agusta wishing "become the Ferrari of the motorcycle", this announcement of partnership with Zagato seems almost logical! It remains to be seen whether the cooperation will lead to a concept without a future, a prototype designed to break speed records or a future model? See you at the start of the school year !
In search of new avenues for redevelopment, MV Agusta could also draw inspiration from the work of preparers and workshops which daily feed the motorcycle “buzz” on the Internet. Latest example: a creation of Deus Ex Machina…
Based on a Brutale 800, Michael "Woolie" Woolaway’s build is inspired by the brand’s glorious racing history. Fan of Agostini from an early age, the design director at "Deus" has modeled a Cafe Racer which pays homage to the Italian pilot’s first victory at the Tourist Trophy, in 1966 (see the video on the next page).
Unlike the "F3 Ago" series marketed two years ago by MV, this unique "Ago TT" is therefore not satisfied with simple forged rims, a special color and an autograph from the star driver (read)…
Presented during the WSBK behind-round at Laguna Seca, the preparation of the workshop in Venice Beach (California, USA) benefits from a hand-made aluminum tank – almost rolled under the armpits! – with deliciously retro lines, an ultra short and "super-square" (!) rear loop and long black megaphone pots.
To perfect its look, the Italian-American is equipped with impressive Beringer brakes, "Made in St-Jean d’Ardieres", in France! Motul,, also participated in this project. And if the future of MV Agusta was – a little – French ?
Whatever the nationality of the partners – industrial as well as financial – MV Agusta is undoubtedly considering capitalizing on the great heritage that it wishes to perpetuate with dignity. Neo-retro, one of the hottest segments in motorcycles right now, would be a good solution, no ?
