Motorcycle rental is an offer that is starting to become more democratic. Renting a motorbike for a weekend or a vacation allows you to enjoy a two-wheeler, in France without having to cross the country with your own motorbike, but also abroad.
This is an advantage to avoid wearing out your two-wheeler since when traveling the motorway for a long distance the tires tend to wear out. Better to transport it on a trailer or in a truck.
In addition, a long motorcycle trip causes wear to parts such as brake pads and the chain kit which must be taken care of by lubricating it every 1000 km. Even if some motorcycle enthusiasts will still prefer to go on a motorcycle, motorcycle travel being an integral part of the holidays, it is possible to rent a two-wheeler on site..
Motorcycle rental possible in France and abroad
The major rental companies are starting to rent motorcycles
- Hertz
The rental company Hertz Ride offers BMW motorcycles, equipped with the latest technologies, for rental in various European countries: in France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Portugal, but also in the United States.
All motorcycles are equipped with suitcases, a top case and engine protections from the Touratech equipment manufacturer. These two-wheelers have less than seven months of use and do not exceed 15,000 km.
- Europcar
Thanks to its partnership with Envie2rouler, a professional two-wheel rental company, Europcar provides a fleet of new and varied motorcycles and scooters. The rental company thus meets the needs of bikers who have a motorcycle license, but not the vehicle to accompany them..
The participating Europcar agencies are concentrated in Paris Batignolles and Paris Diderot then on the Côte d’Azur: Nice, Cannes and Saint-Tropez.
Other motorcycle rental services
Like car and even boat rental services now, there are many websites that offer motorbike rentals. There are long-term rental services like Bikeloc, created in 2016, which offers vehicle rental in Île-de-France.
The displacements offered range from 50cc to 900cc, from scooters to motorbikes… The fleet made available consists of recent vehicles and major brands such as Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Piaggio and Niu.
The accessories included in the rental price are the approved helmet, the approved pair of gloves and the lock. The French company also offers a delivery service for drivers who do not wish to travel.
For the short-term rental of motorbikes and scooters, there is Easy Renter a Nantes company that offers rentals throughout the west of France, the south and the east, in more than 60 rental points; and which aims to expand throughout France.
Easy Renter provides a wide choice of motorcycles and scooters ranging from the Yamaha MT07 to the KTM Super Adventure via the Honda Goldwin, the Suzuki V-Strom, the Triumph Street Twin or the Kawasaki Versys. Multi-risk rental insurance is included in the contract.
Who is the motorcycle rental for? ?
Anyone with a motorcycle license can rent a two-wheeler. The rental is ideal for "dormant permits", that is to say people who have the license but have no or more two-wheelers.
Renting a two-wheeler can also be a simple solution to enjoying the freedom of a motorbike on trips without necessarily having to make the trip in your own vehicle. For passionate bikers, it is also an opportunity to discover new models.
What are the conditions for renting a motorbike ?
Generally, as for car rental, rental conditions are due to insurance: rental companies ask that the rider be over 23 years old or 25 years old depending on the case. It is required to have the A, A2, A1 license and even the B license with the 7-hour training.
The customer will have to deposit a fairly high deposit, generally around € 1,500. The rates vary according to the rental companies, but on average it takes 200-250 km per rental day. The price per additional kilometers is generally quite high, around 0.42 – 0.45 € / km.
Note that assistance in the event of an accident is not always included. Be sure to read the conditions. Motorcycle insurance is often included, which explains the high price per day.
Warning paying with a Visa Premier or Mastercard Gold card does not obscure insurance as is the case with car rental. Finally, some companies include the loan of equipment such as an anti-theft device and luggage storage, but also motorcycle equipment, namely helmets and gloves for safe riding.
