Like every beginning of the year, Harley-Davidson lifts the veil covering its novelties a little more: to the first salvo of new 2013 models and special series celebrating 110 years of HD are now added the Softail Breakout and the Street Bob Special Edition (read in particular).
FXSB Softail Breakout
“Breakout, Breakout… but isn’t there a model already named like that in the new 2013 Harley range?”, Will undoubtedly react most of our readers (well, those who are interested in Milwaukee motorcycles!).
And they will be right: the main novelty unveiled this summer by the American manufacturer actually included the term "Breakout" in its name (read again).
Except that it was then a luxurious and ultra-chrome "CVO" model whose production is voluntarily limited to 1900 copies sold for a trifle of … € 29,000 !
However this second "Breakout" concerns this time a "standard" motorcycle of the Harley-Davidson production, coming in this case from the Softail range..
We therefore find the main characteristics of the Softail, namely a 1690cc twin-cylinder injected full of torque (130 Nm at 3000 rpm), a frame concealing its rear suspension to give the illusion of being "rigid", a six-box gears, belt drive and finish to die for.
In detail, this Softail Breakout stands out thanks to the black epoxy tint affixed to its big twin, its ten-spoke 21-inch wheels at the front and 18 at the rear which accommodate tires of 130 mm and 240 mm respectively. wide, its truncated mudguards, its fork with increased spacing (+ 49 mm) and its new handlebars.
"To kick off the Breakout line, we put the speedometer on the handlebar riser," comments Kirk Rasmussen, Harley-Davidson design director..
"And on the tank (18.9 liters, Editor’s note), a black leather band covers the weld. The chrome cover is just high enough to hide the cables and air intakes. The new handlebars, inspired by the models fitted dragster machines, inspires strength and aggressiveness in piloting ".
The Softail Breakout is equipped as standard with ABS and immobilizer and receives a passenger seat that can be removed to visually lighten the rear. The available colors are black "Vivid Black", blue "Big Blue Pearl" and red "Ember Red Sunglo". Its price is not communicated.
Dyna Street Bob Special Edition
As its name suggests, the Street Bob Special Edition is a special series which will only be distributed in "very limited quantities in the European, Middle Eastern and African markets", specifies Harley-Davidson..
Even more stripped-down than the original model, this pickup-looking Bobber adopts a lightweight rear end, crisscross-spoke rims highlighted in red and a classic air filter cover..
And to silence the bad tongues for whom these few touch-ups would not be enough to make this motorcycle a novelty – even for a Harley – the Motor Company mounted the Twin Cam 103 engine on this special series..
Discovered on the Switchback in the Dyna range, this 1690cc V-twin mounted on silentblocs is mated to a six-speed gearbox. For the rest, this special edition takes the fundamentals of Street Bob, namely a high mini Ape-Hanger handlebar, a solo seat and a chromed stacked exhaust..
The Dyna Street Bob Special Edition will only be available in two-tone blue and black paint "Big Blue Pearl" / Vivid Black ". It carries the standard ABS and the immobilizer by coded key. Its price, its date of release. The arrival at the dealership and the number of models available for the French market are not yet known. !
