With a new version of the 1050 cc 3-cylinder, the 2016 Triumph Speed Triple (read our), which will be available in S and R versions, promises to "redefine the performance of the naked roadster", assures the British manufacturer.
The new engine benefits from "104 new developments", counts the Hinckley firm which promises "more power (to better counter the BMW S1000R and its 160 hp or the KTM Super Duke R and its 180 hp, Editor’s note: read our) and, more importantly, more torque available at all speeds "; while respecting the new Euro 4 anti-pollution standards.
Among these developments, Triumph cites a new combustion chamber, a new cylinder head, pistons with a modified design and new ride-by-wire throttle bodies, a "smaller but more efficient" radiator, a new exhaust, etc..
The 2016 Speed Triple S and Speed Triple R also offer a new electronic control unit coupled with a new adjustable ride-by-wire accelerator that would offer better feeling, greater responsiveness and increased control. And in addition to the Road, Rain, Sport and Track modes, the rider will now be able to choose a fifth personalized riding mode to adapt the motorcycle even more precisely to the condition of the road or the environment..
On the look side, the new Speed Triple retains a minimalist and aggressive appearance, reinforced by a rear inspired by the Daytona 675R.
The Speed Triple S will be available in Diablo Red and Phantom Black, while the R version, better equipped – carbon fiber on the front fender and on the tank, Ohlins full adjustable suspension at the front (NIX30) as at the rear (TTX36 RSU), specific colors … – will be available in Crystal White and Matt Graphite with touches of red on the frame, wheels, radiator scoops and saddle.
