News - Motorcycle news 2016: the greatest Triumph classics - The Triumph Bonneville T120 is back!

As expected, Triumph has just released the first info, photos and video of its 2016 Modern Classic range. Five new motorcycles are presented: two Bonneville T120s and two Thruxton 1200 cc as well as a Street Twin 900 cc. To us the fat English !

The Triumph Bonneville T120 is back !

Hounded by our colleagues from MCN, the new Bonnie finally appears in broad daylight! And, Triumph was indeed up to something big…

The all-new Bonneville indeed receives a 1200 cc "big twin" which develops "impressive power (the technical sheet is missing, Editor’s note) and delivers an impressive torque of 105 Nm at just 3,100 rpm, an increase of 54% compared to the previous generation".

For the record, the previous English 865 cc engine produced 68 hp and 68 Nm, which was a short hair against its German and Japanese opponents (read our)…

The new block somewhat upsets "the establishment": stalled at 270 ° and water-cooled (What The Flute?), It is powered by a pair of electronic box carburettors with double butterflies and controlled by a ride-by-wire accelerator.

This electronic paraphernalia allowed the English engineers to equip their great classic (remix 2016) with traction control which could prove beneficial … and two driving modes (Road and Rain), as long as we do! The anti-lock braking system (ABS), the anti-slip clutch and the immobilizer system are also fitted as standard..

The big English is even anti … frost thanks to its "High-quality factory-fitted heated grips with three configuration modes as standard"… and smartphone or GPS battery failure, because equipped with a USB socket mounted on the fork crown !

On the handlebars, we also find the control which was lacking on the old model and allows you to scroll through the many information displayed on the two screens of the new double counter (engine speed and analog speed, "of course").

Configuration of the heated grips, driving mode adjustment, gear indicator engaged, odometer and two partials, maintenance indicator, fuel level (average, instantaneous and range consumption), deactivation of the traction control and ABS, clock. .. It is even possible to add other accessories such as cruise control !

Bombastic Bonnie !

In addition to this avalanche of digital data, the big novelty Triumph 2016 incorporates more tangible and very useful elements: central stand and passenger handle are part of the original equipment and ideally complement this bike..

Behind the deliciously retro look of this brand new Bonneville (spoked rims, pots and numerous chrome parts, badged tank and decorated engine casings …) hides "full LED" lighting. MNC hopes the new chassis and its suspensions will be as brilliant !

"Featuring the neutrality, agility and stability for which Triumph is known", say the British, the Bonnie would be equipped"a more comfortable saddle and greater suspension travel for an immersive and relaxed ride".

We will have guessed it, this Bonneville of the future – date of availability unknown to date – will be more "comfort" than "sport". It will also be multicolored and will maintain folklore thanks to its four colors "inspired by the classic model: Cranberry Red and Aluminum Silver with hand-painted borders, Jet Black and Pure White with hand-painted borders, Jet Black and Cinder Red", lists Triumph.

The English icon of the 60’s logically takes advantage of this total overhaul to change its name: it is now called T120, Bonneville T120 … Yes, like the first of the name, so named in evocation of its top speed: 120 mph ( approx. 190 km / h)…

The T120 of the 21st century does not land alone since it is accompanied by a darker version called T120 Black (what else?) Whose release date and price also remain to be discovered, probably on the occasion of the next one. Eicma fair in Milan.

"Showcasing all the character, detail and finish of the T120, the new Bonneville T120 Black delivers even more style and attitude through a dark brown saddle and all-black details, like the rims, passenger grip, exhaust and engine finish", details the Hinckley firm.

In addition, a "Prestige" kit will allow future buyers to add "more finesse and charisma to the new T120It will include a black stitched and ribbed seat, transparent black LED turn signals, black "balloon" grips and lots of chrome: on the four-bar tank badge, on the Vance & Hines tapered mufflers, on the chain, clutch and alternator guards as well as the throttle body covers.

But the new "Douze-cent" is not only fitted to the new Bonneville models: it is also found at the heart of two new 2016 Thruxton models. As a bonus, a 900 cc Street Twin is also on the program … To discover in following pages !
